Not to go off track, but what would be the general concensus to stress relieving a NOS/new aftermarket block?
The 69 GS I bought had Stage 2 heads on a 430 block , came ?? , b4b 850 Holley , original headers and 4.78 gears . I was told the car run in the 11.30's back in the old days . I think the pistons were flat top with notches . Not sure of the hp it made , but all steel , gutted interior ? Bill
Got that Buick Muscle portfolio book. Mentions some people including Bill Trever helping a few with adding the Stage 2 cam and and other goodies to the 70 455 and getting into the high 11's and low 12's. Not with the heads as they hadn't been out yet.. So on the proposed Stage 2 program with the Stage 2 heads for 1971 that was cancelled who was to make this cam? or wasn't it on the drawing table yet? Buick wanted it to be mostly all in house if i'm right? Yeah I know it a 1 month necro post
There was an experimental stg2 cam designed for the stg2 heads. Also, the 4781-1 carb was also used on chevy’s over the counter LS7 program, so there is some value there.
The cam shown here or the ones that might of been mentioned on this thread isn't the experimental cam for the St2 heads? Did they grind one or was it still on the drawing board. Not to get off topic but how are you doing by the way?
I’m not sure on the cam here. Just remember seeing it on e-bay a long time ago. It was a straight pattern. Which makes sense. and thank you for asking…appreciate it. I’m doing really well.
Far as I know one was made, I have the used one pictured here and have also bought a new one that’s the same grind that was produced from an original back in 1980.
I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a brand new Stage 2 copy that Wayne Roberts had made around 1980. He had 5 made at the time, thanks Wayne!
More parts began to show up in Missouri while I was out in Arizona, Pypes 3” stainless exhaust, Electric cut-outs, Gauge set, M22w, clutch & pressure plate, brackets and bushings for boxed control arms, trans hump, entire 4-speed setup, complete 3:42 posi rebuild kit from Trick, and driveshaft safety loop., sport steering wheel.
Another little puzzle piece came, wheelwell mouldings! I think it Looks better with them. And so nice to have untouched, unused factory holes in the sheet metal to screw into instead of wallowed-out mess! They’re the only “prettiness” it’s getting.
Started on the rearend build, out with the old! The gear oil was the cleanest 50 yrs old I’ve ever seen, and to my surprise new brakes already on it which is a big bonus.
Apologies if you have said it before, but what rear gear are you running? Love to see this one really kicking off!
