I don’t know that it has much value other than to me, I don’t know that it came factory on anything?? Besides once it’s on the engine it’ll stay with it forever, or until I’m gone anyway .

The Steelies with Dog-dishes and 295-55-15 Drag radials for Grandma’s 72 Sleeper Stage 2 fit with a half inch on either side.

I could even go with the double-staggered look with 14” skinnies on the front and 15” fatties on the back, hmmmmmm? I have choices as I also have Steelies and 255-60-15 TA radials that can go on the front, decisions to be made.

Looking good. What is your plan for the rear end?

I am getting a full rebuild kit, from Brian Trick, posi with 3:42 gears , I did all the math and with the M22w with 2:56 first gear x 28” tire should be good with 60 mph turning 2700 rpm. I would prefer the 3:64 but it’s not available and 3:73 is a bit much, I still want to drive it, not a race car. Also new Hotchkis sway bar and I’ll have to box the lower control arms.

Good choice. My stock 3:42 rear has yet to fail on me and I’ve abused it quite a bit. It’s a great street strip gear.

Yes they are 8”, these are from 20 years ago, but you can buy them from Summit for around $135-150 each.

Next couple weeks, they’re pretty busy trying to get TA products out the door, I try and go in on Saturdays. Still got some stuff to blast and heads to disassemble and look over, but they don’t look like they’re gonna need much more than maybe new guides, we aren’t happy with the length on them, seems excessive.

A huge shoutout to Vikings.1 on here for selling me a nearly complete 4-speed setup! A big step forward for sure.

Under 500 hp, whatever a pure stock Stage 2 makes.

530 ish....for some reason 536 seems familiar I remember Denny Manner saying somewhere around there...he said the 70 stage 1 was 378hp in pure stock form

    436'd Skylark Sweet Fancy Moses!!!!!

I think he's quoted in Hemmings or Muscle Car Review saying it was an 80 HP gain.. there was a big buick issue back around 2012

I thought I read on a few different mags that Denny Manner said it was worth about 100 hp. so the 480 hp. estimate that I also read about makes sense.
    Didn't they also have a 11 to 1 and a around 12.5 to 1 piston option?

The stage 1 in Guy's car had headers when they swapped to just the stage 2 heads they estimated they made 50 hp.
I don't know how much the stage 2 package added without factoring in the headers?

Yea I think the higher comp race configuration was where the 530 or so come from....I mean no reason why it shouldn't make 500 or very close to it...the stage 2 had peculiar cam timing but even still it had the hardware needed to make 500

You have to factor in the headers because there were no exhaust manifolds made. I believe Denny said minimum 80 hp gain, also I have seen articles stating the 2 Stage 2 cars raced back then that were getting parts from Buick, were somewhere over 500 hp.

To run 10.70s you gotta have at least 530hp and that's where the stage 2s were running
