Had a buddy over visiting for the weekend, and on Saturday we decided to take a little twisty road trip down a highway in the mountains. All going well, but quite a bit of traffic as usual this time of year. Well, we get stuck behind two cars going about 45 mph in a 70 mph zone for a while, and the road finally opens up into a good straightaway and I can see a pickup coming towards us, but he's a good 1/2 mile off. So I give the pile the beans and get around the first guy, get up next to the lead car at about 85 mph, and all hell breaks loose. Engine starts knocking like we're about to have a rod thrown out the block, a quick look down shows no oil pressure and we're losing speed, fast. Meanwhile the first car I passed has decided to follow me around the lead car, and at this point the guy coming head on at us is getting too close for comfort. So had to do a little quick thinking, swerve to the left side ditch to avoid becoming another head on casualty on the news and of course the truck gets loose. All I'm hearing are horns blaring and tires squealing as I get the pile back onto the road and see an approach from a side road up ahead and aim for that with the brakes on full lock. Stopped just short of having a real "incident" (check the skid marks)..... Do about a 4 mile walk in the heat to one of the smoke jumper camps so I can use their cell booster to call AAA and another friend to come get us. Get the truck home on the back of a rollback, pull the valve cover, and discover my whole incident has been caused by one of my "offshore" rocker arms snapping it's golden Chinese heart in half. Hopefully a new set of rockers and maybe some different length pushrods and we'll be good.....Oh, and 4 new tires.
I'm glad your safe buddy Make note to self Next time me n Rockies go visit Lucas no Ford test drives we will stick to the caddy
I'm just glad there's going to be a next time. Definitely the closest I've been to not having a tomorrow in a long time.
Scary and glad you were able to pull that off. Hopefully the repair goes well. Not clear to me why that would cause the loss of Oil pressure though. Afraid you might have a larger issue...
Lifter came out of lifter bore, bleeding oil pressure. All looks ok so far, plug even looks good. We'll see tonight or tomorrow.
My weekend pucker factor came from a ride in my friends side by side. It's a Ranger 1000 and we were doing 60mph with no windshield. The sunglasses were almost not enough. That is when I thought to myself that people on motorcycles with open face helmets are dumb. Ps the ranger could use more grab handles.
Well, I didn't mention it first but I did get stung on my left leg by a few yellow jackets first thing that morning while mowing. The "hike" to cell service was less than pleasant. Awesome day all around.
Damn Dude! First your truck and now you. By the way you really didn't have to shave your legs for us.
Dang Lucas, I really am sorry about your wreck you crazy fool. But your shaved legs, they are definitely sexy.
Joe posted something about a year or so ago. I don’t remember what it was about, but he definitely left himself open for comments. I wrote this thing about two or three paragraphs long. I thought it was funny as hell, but it was also crude. My post got totally wiped away. Damn Big government watching us
