Dammmmmnnn!!!! 100 stings!...Stainless rockers supposed to be here tomorrow or Friday. Parents get here tomorrow and little brother Friday for my cousin's wedding, so might be a couple days before I get to it (not that they'd mind me working on the truck, but there just isn't going to be time). I did take all next week off so should be rolling again soon, also have a rear disc brake kit to do to it. It's blocking in my Mach 1 so it needs to get it's sorry a$$ out of the way :D:D:D

Well, we're back on the road. Got some stainless rockers from PRW after consulting the men in the know on the FE and BBF boards. I know they're frowned upon here, and those guys say the same about the aluminums, but most of the better builders say the stainless set is great for a day in day out ride like mine. The PRWs are a pretty decent set for the money. One thing I will say that I had to do with these as well as the Speedmasters, some of the rollers don't exactly roll the way you'd like them to out of the box. Had to spend about an hour working with them, cleaning with brake cleaner and WD40, and rolling back and forth to get them smooth before soaking in oil for a few hours. A couple of them were pretty crunchy, thought I was going to have to send them back or get replacements, but after a while they did smooth out. They also forgot to send the locking nuts for the adjusters, but luckily the nuts off the Speedmasters were the same threads and I hadn't chucked them in the garbage yet, so just removed and used them. After that, all went well.

If you've never had to shim a set of shaft rockers to get them lined up, it takes a little while until you get a system down. I've done it a couple times so I've got my own procedure, but first time you do it, it might be a little frustrating. The PRWs do run quite a bit quieter than the old set, which is nice. I also have to adjust the bottom end tuning of the carb still, the lift ratios must be different between the two sets of rockers, but been driving for two days with no issues so far. Polished up the valve covers while they were off, then gave the truck a good cleaning for being a "good boy" and not actually being blown up. Sorry the pic with the covers off is blurry, hands were covered in oil and I obviously touched the phone lens.
