I'm selling a rare 69 GP SJ factory 4 spd.. 428/370hp. The car has a #'s matching engine, trans/rear are not. It has the build sht. with the PMD microfiche and PHS statement.
Options are; P/S, P/B, P/Win, P/drlks, P/dr.seat, P/trunk, Tilt, Reclining Pass seat, rear defogger in glass (1st yr.) A/C, AM/FM stereo, Rallye clock/gauges, automatic load leveling system. Anyone knowing someone please email me for pic's. This car is 1/302 made.
The car may need to be re-bodied, it does come with some decent sheet metal.

    $6,000

One of 302 is I assume 4-speed 428's. I wonder how many were 428 HO's with a 4-speed? It would be easy to upgrade the car to a 428 HO....

    Jeff,

    What's the HP for a 428HO ?

    I believe Joe Z has a 69 428HO 4sp GP that he's trying to bring to Stanton.

400 CID was rated at 350 HP, same as a GTO

428 CID was rated at 370 HP

428 HO was rated at 390 HP. One of the mags tested a 4-speed 428 HO back in the day and it ran 13.8 something. The GP weighs a little more but the extra cubes more than make up for it compared to the average GTO...

One of Kat's buddies had a 428 GP...thing was an animal. It was a street car/weekend terror that pretty much had the p!ss rodded out of it it's entire life...but the thing rode/drove like a Caddy, but could run off & hide from most of the true street cars it ran against. Cool car that I think they let get away...my memory wants to say the car I rode/drove in was an automatic, though? I remember a big freekin' nose on that thing...

I may have jumped the gun on this car, it may not be for sale after all. Stay tuned.

I ;tuned one of these back in the day for one of my wife's friends (they were driving it to Florida), and I was very impressed with it. Felt like I was driving something out of the 30's with a V12 in it from that long hood out front.

Like a dumb ****, I passed on a low mileage 69 Catalina with a 428 in the family a few years ago. Grandpa's car, $500. They wanted to keep it in the family. OOPS.

    OK - I'll be the "buzz-kill" ...... :puzzled:

If Miller isn't allowed to race an LS-5 Impala/Caprice (B-body) Chevy ....... why would a 370HP 428 GP be allowed ? If it was the 428HO, then fine. It's marketed as a High Output engine option, and the top of the horsepower scale. Otherwise, it's just a "big" engine in a "big" car.

Really, I don't care. I just don't understand the difference ? :Do No:

I am not taking sides, but maybe their logic is if it's an SJ Grand Prix with a 400, 428 or 428 HO it's allowed, if it's an LJ it's not. I guess the logic would be the same for a 400 GTO vs. a 400 Ram Air GTO. The SJ with the "lesser" engine still promotes a "high performance image"

Yea.......didn't the SJ package include a "performance" suspension and rear axle?

Vs. the non SS Impala or Caprice did not have those options. :Do No:

I think you're right, Seems like there were some interior trim options included too. Steering wheel, seats, probaably a tach. I'm sure this all varied by the year. I think I remember different wheels (probably rallyes and tires too).

No "SS" Impala after 1969...and I'm pretty certain you could get any suspension/gear under the b-body that your heart desired.

But put me in the "I don't get it" column, in regards to the exclusion of the 454 Caprice. You're talking 390hp, and what, 500+ lb-ft? This car is a "no no", but a quick glance at this year's spreadsheet [I'm not picking on *any* combos here, just showing my point, so no hate mail!] shows a 190hp 350 in a Buick A-body, and a 270hp 455 in a yacht...of the 3, the 454/390hp Caprice has the *least* performance image?

How about thiis one? It's a 1969, fourspeed, dual exhaust, performance image in some circles (mostly law students back in the 60's and 70's, many of which are running our country today).

I was in Maxton North Carolina a week ago for some Land Speed Racing and apparently there is a 36 HP class for VW's. The LSR for a 36 HP Beetle was set by someone back in the 60's at a blistering 66 MPH! The record stood until one week ago, some guys showed up with a fully restored 1953 Beetle and proceeded to go 67 MPH on Sat and then 69 MPH on Sunday (denser air). Those things are real hot rods....

I'm pretty sure the 350 Buick is a GS and the 455 yacht a Stage 1 GS.

Again.....lower HP in a "performance image" car and a performance engine and GS package in a family car.

The '70 Caprice - Impala sounds kinda like a '69 - '70 Mercury Marquis, 429 360hp was available, however I'd think you would need the 429 360hp in the Marauder version to be eligible.

Same engine in both but family car image in one and performance image with the other.

Oooo-k, since there were no 'SS' cars in a b-body from 1970-on, the problem is the 454 b-body *looks* slower than the 190hp GS and the 270hp Centurian?! Now we're getting somewhere, LOL!!

If you forget the L72 under the hood, how sporty does Casey's Biscayne look? So, a 283 Impala/Caprice/BelAir/Biscayne is legal, if it's wearing SS badges?? Can a 283 even move a b-body???

Come on now -- we all know that Casey looks sporty even in a Biscayne. :Brow:
