this motor was rebuilt using some of the stock stuff like pistons, cam that came from a 1970 skylark motor with less than 50k (cam looked great). the block and heads are 1976 and the heads were milled down. I don't know how much, but you can tell they been milled. I would guess compression would be 9 to 1. The block looked great and just needed a hone of course the pictures will tell you that. has a starter on it, fuel pump, flex plate, and coil. I am willing to fire this motor for the buyer just got a couple things to hook up, like carburetor, fuel line, coil etc. small stuff

    $1600 takes this motor

Did you do the work on the engine yourself.IF I read correctly some of the parts where used that are installed

that is correct Jim, just like the ad states, however I don't have a carburetor for this motor for start up, but if you bring a carb. I'm more than happy to bolt it down and fire this motor up for you for the first time. I'm confident that this motor isn't going to have issues. If I get an adaptor I probably can toss a 2brl on it, just would be easer with a quadrajet.

Is 1200 too much, this motor is clean, very clean. I mean what would you pay for a buick 350 motor running in a gunky mess, probably 500 bucks. Yes I did put a used camshaft in it but those camshaft lobes were Great looking. I had three stock camshafts and I picked the best one, and you may have the other two with the motor, and looking at the other two camshafts one of them is very good looking its self. The one that's in the motor looked damn near new, I don't know how old it is but the lobes are tight and hardly shinny at all.

    entertaining offers

Not posting for conversation or opinion just trying to help the sale. It would be helpful to have concrete specs on the engine. Piston deck clearance, how much the heads were milled. Helping to get an exact number for the static compression will make a difference in how much the engine is worth. With a 76 block and heads it could potentially take a lot of milling and decking to get the compression up, even with the smaller dish 70 pistons. This engine would be best suited to someone who needs a replacement for a blown or worn out stock 350.

I wish I could tell you what clearance was taken off the heads, all I can say is you could notice the difference in the combustion chamber from this head to a 70 head. This engine would be best suited for someone replacing a tired worn out stock motor in just a car meant for cruising.

I'll take 1,000 for the motor, I really just need rid of it

What is the bearing and oil pump clearance? Need a complete 350

brand new FM bearings, and the crank looked beautiful, never turned!!!!what's the deal....I didn't plasti-gauge it. It's a stock motor. I built plenty of sbc motors and never checked the clearance. I never spun a bearing yet to date!!! Is the Buick bearings that far out of whack? two motors for sure that I built and never checked the clearance on the bearings. First motor is a 13:1 nitrous motor that I spray 150, now it does have a balanced rotating assembly and the rings were file fit by me for the nitrous. I did not check the bearing clearance maybe I should've, motor is a screamer. Second motor is 10:1 no nitrous, the rotating assembly is not balanced and I did not check the bearing clearance, motor is fine almost every stop sign I'm laying rubber in my Elcamino. I did check them in a 400 I built some time ago, specs came in fine. Are these Buick motor's that much of a pain to build that you have to check every little thing? What do you mean oil pump clearance? the gears?

Again this is a stock motor, I really don't think this is going to be an issue with this motor living, even if you break it in and beat on it, I'm sure it will be just fine.

Is that not what all rebuilt motors are? used before undergoing restoration/rebuilding process?

Norman, If I spec and check all of this motor, do you want to pay my price??? because it's not going for 1000 dollars then, ask Jim Wise if he would do all that work and make the motor look as good as it does for 1000 dollars??? Don't buy my motor Norman because you would be a pain In my side. when you know infact you wouldn't do as clean as an assembly as I've done here.

Also it does have machined head's, do you know what machine work costs???? The block was honed, that's not just cleaned and reassembled. honing is machining....

Don't need this and not making an offer, just trying to clue you into the vibe here. So, no offense meant though you'll probably take it that way.

Buick folks are pretty particular about things. If we weren't, we'd all own Chevys that are a dime a dozen and 1/3 the cost to build.

I hate to say it but I'm guessing your lack of precision answers is a major concern for anyone looking for a Buick small block, which is a pretty limited pool to begin with.

I wish you luck but I suspect anyone on this board is going to consider it as little more than a clean core.

well I guess you answered my question, it's not worth more than the scrap metal I would get from a scrap yard. Not the first time I wasted my time or money.

    Thanks

I'm afraid you just don't have enough particulars. Buicks are VERY sensitive to clearances on the rods and mains and oil pumps are critical. We are very leery of anyone that doesn't have this info.
