you should have been in my shoes over the last 12 years I was makin 10$ an hr under table then made 15 above at another place and another one at 18 an hr
took all this time to claw my ass to 25hr and now I get to retire in Jan
Plus in 2009-2012 I was going to school part time to change careers PTA, but I could not get past the algebra and I wouldn't have even needed that but that stupid gov of Ohio Kasik thought we needed more math so I had to take more. Couldn't get past it so after wasting my time with that I had to go back to what I know, printing, but now I run a beast and I own it.
and in my eyes I still don't get enough for my skill and I aint teaching anybody notin.

At 55 is about when you get the boot for the first time then its claw back time. don't this just suck
It's the main reason I haven't done anything to my car except go race about once a year and now everything costs an arm and a leg that 25hr is back to 18 now I have only been here 4 years now and they have taken care of me really well so now can't complain got it made here and owners are great. Us printers are the loosers of skilled jobs.

Million dollar machine here in 2005 this one has 175 million impressions what I run today
6 colors of excitement here folks.

“Companies” and their (most of) management don’t care about employees, they just want their bonus, or commission check, and a fat one at that.
    It’s sad it’s like this.

    Yep, you’re right!
I was around 56 when my last job booted me for younger, cheaper labor.
I still get my blood boiling if I think of it, 10 years I was there, seen managers come and go, body men and painters come and go, the “good” people stay like I did, but F’d up management sees it otherwise.

Snotty nose kids come into management and brown nose the (owners) & higher ups they report to. I retired in 2015 because of it. They had to send everything out after I left...:D:D:D People retire cuz they're fed up.

I am with ya brother. The real question will we ever get to the point of getting CNC heads or will this 350 section die since we are all broke now and I don't know why...

Have you ever talked with Scotty about maybe getting the head finishing program from TA to keep this aluminum head development moving along? It's great that he has squeezed 300 + flow by cnc'ing the bowls & runners,
But this dead end / brick wall has to be resolved somehow. It's getting to the point that we want what we now can't have or get.....
    They sure look pretty!

It doesn't make a difference to me or anyone else who really wanted the heads as we already bought them. They were available and a few sets sold, I guarantee the 455 heads will be a bigger priority vs the SBB.

    A couple of things..

First off, Mike T does know how to run his machines.. it's the only way anything is getting done now.. and parts are getting done, I just got a set of Stage 1 SE BB head castings in last week. But he has other responsibilities being the owner and can't stand in front of a CNC all day.. So the lack of someone to do that is slowing down production.

Secondly... 350 heads I am sure are at the bottom of the list.. last I heard, there were only ever a handful of orders, even less now after guys have canceled them... while there are a pile of back orders for Big block stuff, from intakes to motor mounts.. When they started getting in castings, I heard they were over 100 sets on backorder, when you consider all his different heads.. but only a handful were 350 heads.. if you want to bitch, I would suggest you call out the dozens of guys who said they would buy them, but then were no where to be found when they became available. Pretty much like I told Mike would happen. Unfortunately, this has ripple affected out to all of us.. I just had to give a 6K deposit back to a customer for an alum head 350 build, because his is pretty sure he is going to die before he sees it.. because I can't get heads...Ya, I enjoyed doing that...

And lastly... $8300 for a TA block.. says who? Certainly not on the TA 4550 standard deck/cam location blocks.. they are $6695.00 and have risen only recently here, in response to the staggering inflation we are experiencing.. the introductory price, 10 years ago, was $5900... The most expensive block is the raised deck/cam deal, at $7900, and there might be a price increase that has not made it to the website yet on that one.. but its' just plain wrong to say " a TA block is $8300 bucks"..without being more specific.

Glad someone “in the know” replied and told us what’s up at/with TA.
I hope they find a qualified machinist and they soldier on:cool:

being involved in the cnc world, there is a cnc process basically called 'lights out machining'. programs are made to run at night or 24 hours and w/o an operator. a lot of companies do it. AND they don't cut aluminum. they cut stuff like inconel. some of which is 4-6 % machineability.
    i don't know.........

Inconel wow, I would have to sharpen a carbide form tool after maby every 10 pieces even if that many on a cam driven screw machine back in the day..

r&d, we would make inserts out of it and show the customers how tough inconel. nowadays cbn or ceramic inserts are used besides carbide.
now if we made engine parts out of some of the weird materials i work with......well, it would be boring not to have to rebuild an engine ever again.
back to the heads. mori seiki/dmg, where i worked, would do the programming for the customer who bought the machine. a lot of companies do that now. buy ours and we will help.

As of last week, one of those TA blocks was $8300.00 by the time it got to your feet. No,it wasn’t that much before,BUT I expect it to be more now. Yes,you are right, the 6-month wait for the 350 heads is what scared a lot of people off. They didn’t want to shell out the money and wait. Some of us that deal with this all the time don’t really blink at it,but those that are newer at it,sure.

The CNC of things is a bit different. Unless you had a good vested interest in these heads and had a good market for them, you could go in the hole quick.
Not really apples to apples, but I know of a shop close to me that does some pretty wild gun stuff.
For what they get to completely machine the main frame for a LARGE caliber auto hand gun would blow your mind.
Us here more than likely would spend more for a good torque wrench than what the do that job for.

People should have bought them when they became available.
