Sorry to hear about your situation, Tom. My thoughts are with you and all the guys in the auto industry too. Keep your chin up.

I send you positive thoughts and well wishes going forward. Times like these will test what you are made of.

I was once employed in the auto industry. From 1972 to 1974, I made Buicks, Olds, and Pontiacs at the Framingham plant. The Arab oil embargo wiped out about 4,000 jobs there, and one of them was mine.....:Dou:

At the time, I was single and living at home. That really helped, as if I had a family then, it would have been a big problem.

I decided that the situation that happened would never re-occur, so I decided to get as much education as I could. This would protect me in the future, and it did.

Since 1974, I have been thru all the downturns and recessions, and was never touched again.

The moral of the story is: pick yourself up, and look to improve your skills for the next career. Use knowledge to differentiate you from others.

As my grandfather used to say "No one cares more about the ass in your pants than you and your family"

Good luck, and PM me if I can help further.

Nice response, Paul. Been through it twice myself, first was voluntary, second and final one was not. Fortunately had enough years and seniority to get the early retirement....been 8 years now, you learn to adapt.

Tom: If you're still here, see PM.
