tire sizes David, Before the 17's I ran 15x7 ralleys. I used 255x60R 15 in the rear, and 215x60R 15 in the front. They looked great, and really filled the wheelwells.:bglasses:
Buick made the best looking wheels on a car to ever come out of any manufacture. Nothing looks better in motion on a Buick GS or Skylark than the Buick Ralley. The Ford Mustang in about 69 and 70 has a wheel that almost looks just like the Buick rims. They too look great on those Mustangs. BUICK RIMS FOREVER...at least here on earth!
As of now, the votes are evenly split. Thanks everyone for your input. This all started when I saw a early '90's Skylark with some really sharp Boyd Coddington wheels on it. That got me to thinking....hmmm...wonder what those would look like on my car? For now, the rallyes stay put. :TU: David
:bglasses: I Like the New Wildcat Wheel made by Barry White's Street Rod Repair Company I saw them in the July copy of Custom Rodder, The one with the front page that said 100 years of Buick.Thier Website is: www.barrywhitesrrc.com. I also Like The Cragers Torque Thrusters on a bigger car. Now unless you have Big Wallet ya can't go wrong with something from Boyd Coddington's Selection.......I am to Poor for that type of Wheel! Stocks are nice but they really don't set the car off much from the outside and thats the first thing people see. Just my 2 cents......Who am I kidding If I had 2 cents I stay up all night and look at it.
They look great on the Chrysler and everything else except the GS and the Charger. Some wheels look great on the showroom display until you put them on the car.
I like Rallys on some cars, sometimes, and custom wheels sometimes, on some cars. It all depends on the look you're going for. I am probably going to use Vintage Trans Am style 15 or 16" wheels on my Skylark, whenever I get around to getting new wheels. Sort of like Couldnt find them on an A-Body (I think PHR had a 69 Chevelle with them on it a couple months ago)... so here is a nice Cougar. Or maybe some minilites in 15x8 I know its a chevy... but thats an awesome look.
I have an extra set of GNX repro wheels. Was thinking about putting them on a GS but unfortunately I don't have a black one. I think they'd probably look good on a black car, but not on one of a different color.
I like the looks of the stock rallyes. On my Stage 1,I have the 15x7's with the Goodyear Polyglas 60's. I love the way they look and the ride/handling is very good.
I like the Buick rallye's too but, I decided I had to have these for the 68 Skylark I bought from Kurt. They kinda' have that Buick look.
Cragar SS!!! the stock looks good but the Cragar SSs are the best looking wheels for a '70-'72 'Lark. the mine are 15x7 with 245/60 and 15x8 with 275/60 and a set of airbags to raise the rear around 1.5".
Lookin' good? Those do look good. But what makes them look good is that they are vaguely like Buick Road Wheels!!:TU:
Dog chasing its tail This discussion is fun but ultimately it comes down to what the driver likes. Some go for strict restoration, some for cloning, and some for leaving an original car as is. Its all a matter of preference. Drive on!p
i have the cragar ss jus like solocoupe...my sizes are 14x6 in front and 15x10 in back with air shocks....jus the way to go on muscle cars
One look i do like and will probably go with on my 71,the small buick caps on widened stock wheels total sleeper look.I like aluminum slots also, classic look.
