Try not to sprain your arm patting yourself on the back. Yes we see you and recognize your accomplishments. No one could possibly be more proud of them than you. Still respectable though. I'd like to thank you personally for your contribution to the community (as well as others here who've been waiting a long, long time for this sp intake and who have contributed knowledge and experience). :TU: Trying to keep my sentences short. It's difficult, and I must use more spaces in-between them so reading isn't such a chore. Fortunately for the readers, my posts have been much fewer and farther apart due to my activities which require the lion's share of my attention for now. Hopefully, I'll be able to contribute more later on. You guys try not to be so hard on others here. You're scaring them away. Just chill. Gary
My arm is ok I just remember when I bought the SFI flex plate Mike at TA told me I just helped make it possible for this part to be available for the 350. The funny part is there is not a deep oil pan for the 350 and Forged pistons are not part of the TA catalog today. My engine still ran to 6400 with the TA DP, so the new intake should take it a step farther, just took a while to get the SP. In all reality I had just wanted to be different and run the 350. With all the cruising around I use to do I did not want to build a 455 because of gas mileage. Now I kinda wish I would have done the 455 because I would not be going thru all of this on here. I really just want to have fun and go racing when I can. I think I have said enough on here have to chill.
Ive been patiently waiting 3 months is no big deal looking to buy 2 of these any options for machined out injector bungs with machined and installed fuel rails
That really ups the game there for a DYI FI setup, ive been itchin to get one for my 350 but the complete kits new start around 2k
Unless you build a custom efi setup this would still be over $2000. TA Sells an SFI dual plane now at a cost of around $4000.
Hi Folks, I see that some are very interested in this intake. We currently have 7 people who have asked for there name to placed on a list. I have only ordered 50 castings at this time. If you are interested please call and place your order. This way I know if we are making enough for all you.
Mike, how much would you like for a deposit to reserve an intake? I'll have to add that to my pending order Thanks, Jacob
only 50? maybe I should have got 2 just in case this is the only run. I think he just retains your info on the list then will bill you when they come in. i just ordered parts and the bill was just parts received.
or just wait for the 50 to get sold, then ebay it to the highest bidder Rare TA SP intake, #13 of 50, last one of first run, starting bid $599.99
Isn't a set of $2k + billet rods a bit over the top with a factory crank without a girdle? The '73 and up cap screw rods with some work and ARP bolts are supposed to be good to around 600HP or so. Nascar take outs is an affordable choice proven to handle 750 HP on a sbb 370 stroker with a procharger.(without a girdle if I recall correctly) There are also off the shelf 4340 forged rod choices with a little custom machining that can be made to work as well. Nissan 6.496" rods with a .827" wrist pin and the 1.850" journal size can be opened up .048" to use the Honda rod journal size of 1.889" dealers choice. There are LS with a .927" wristpin that are 2.00" and 1.889" rod journal size that can be bought at 6.460" and 6.560" long. Both of those quick examples even with the custom machining would be around 1/4 the price of a set of one off billet rods. GL Derek
Unless I'm mistaken the rods the TA makes are 995. Still expensive but they will make them to whatever length I need. I'll have to call and get clarity on that. My plan was to use the TA rods and go with the later short deck v6 pistons. That way I have the lighter shorter piston and still save a little money going with off the shelf pistons I'd go with the cap screw rods since I intend to stay around 500hp but unless I come across a set someone is selling the reconditioned rods are $450 plus core charge of 120 and then ARP bolts are around $120
Should be able to do a parts wanted ad and get a set of '73 and newer cap screw rods for under $100 I would think, you might even get lucky and find a set done up with the ARP bolts in them for a deal? OR, buy a '73-'80 sbb 350 core engine for the rods, I bought a '77 sbb 350 for $150. Block was cracked but rods and crank are good heads good intake is a 60lb cast iron 4bbl boat anchor and oil pan is good front cover is good. You could harvest the rods, crank, front cover, dist., and so on, scrap, give away or sell what you don't want. Or I can sell you the rods(pistons pressed off) I have for $80 shipped? BUT it would be better to have the crank that had those rods attached to them because they are heavier than the earlier rods which could cause an earlier crank to need some heavy metal to even be able to externally balance the earlier crank with the newer rods? GL Derek
I call TA today an put down a deposit .I asked what going price might be, don't hold me to this she said 389.99 FYI.
I can sell you the rods(pistons pressed off) I have for $80 shipped? GL Derek[/QUOTE] Derek; NickEV wants those rods. PM him. I would have bought them if timing was there.
Yes? Thats an efi converted intake with efi kit I was simply asking how much would it cost just for tjem to maxhine out the alreasy casted injector bungs and to add in machined fuel rails The shop that did my x factor s/p intake charged me 750 to weld in injector bungs, install injectors, cut to length/machine out fuel rails, fab up mounts to hold said fuel rails plus fittings an powdercoat everything. id imagine itd still start off an easy 400- 500 for the sp3 efi cpncersion...no fi kit bundled
Since we are running NHRA Super Stock we can't share the entire dyno sheet for each run, but, I will try to give a few details. There are a few more things Gary wants you to know about this Super Stock engine used to test. This engine is a budget built, if there is such a thing for NHRA Super Stock. We have no Honda wrist pins. There are no .9 mm or less rings (NO 2 ring pistons). No welding or epoxying on the heads. This is a good set of heads and cam combo but there is more work that can be done in other areas. More about the dyno test: The load test RPM was 4900 to 6300 There was no reason to go lower than 4900 due to the car having a 5200 torque converter. Based on the graphing, Torque peak was below the 4900 RPM and estimated to be 455 @ 4500. We observed 448 ft-lbs torque at 4900 RPM The HP peak was 471 at 6100 RPM SP3 bolt on improvements over our previous best manifold option: At 5000 RPM we were +14 HP and +14 ft-lbs At 5500 RPM we were +14 HP and +14 ft-lbs At 6200 RPM we were +22 HP and +19 ft-lbs The SP3 HP peak RPM and torque peak RPM were both 300 RPM higher than the DP Average HP and torque (Gary said this is important) from 4900 to 6300 there was a +16.4 HP and +15.3 ft-lbs increase. Preliminary tests at the track at Atlanta Dragway on March 28. Best speed 119+ MPH, an increase of 2+ mph over the best MPH for our Chrysler intake and 3+ MPH better than our DP. Best E.T. was 11.17 with RPM in the 6500 range. All while needing to have Billy look at the trans in combo with this setup, as it was shifting into second early (while it was still in the air). Looking for 10's with a better trans setup. Troy
Good info. It looks like the car is a contender for the first N/A Buick 350 in the 10's that I know of. I don't believe Sonny Seal quite made it.
