What would be a good deal on (2)15x7 & (2)15x8 Spyder wheels with the correct Spyder Lug nuts? Bolt pattern is correct. P.S. Wanting to buy, not sell.
Korrie, I don't know if you want my opinion, but being as you asked for a response numerous times.................................I always thought these wheels looked horrible, so to me they are no deal at all. Sorry. Duane
I disagree with Duane. I think they are very cool old rims and I have a set of 15x8's going on mine soon. So many of the new rims all look the same, do you really want to see another set of Torque Thrusts on another Buick??? Not me............. Anyway, I had to pay through the nose for a mint set I found on Ebay, they are quite hard to find esp. with the center caps, if ya find a good set be prepared to spend serious $$$$$$. Under a grand for a complete set with caps would be a huge steal, Tom
People disagree with me all the time. There are lots of aftermarket aluminum rims that look good on our cars, I just don't think these are one of them...................but at least Korrie got a few responses here. Duane
Duane Learned a long time ago to repect opinions of those who respect my opinion. In your case, well I also learned a lot from Ricky Nelson who sang these lyrics. "it's all right now, learned my lesson well You see, ya can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself" From "Garden Party" Thanks for your opinion, as always. ---------- Post added at 06:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:47 PM ---------- Tom Agree with all you say except it seems Syder Wheels in good shape with good centers have more than exceeded inflation. Ouch!:dollar::dollar::dollar:
Korrie, what also makes these wheels expensive, you are competing against the Mopar crowd. They are highly sought after in there world. Good or nos center covers are the most difficult to find and can be pricey. When I first saw that wheel I thought they were ugly. When I put them on the car I thought they were the coolest looking wheel that could ever be on a GS. How can that be? I don't know. Somehow it "dates" the car and just makes it ooze coolness.
I have to agree. I am not the biggest aftermarket wheel fan but Spyders look so BOSS on a Buick. :Brow:
Great -- I have a set of NOS MWS lug nuts of the correct "pointed" type but I guess they are the wrong thread for the GS. I am told they are 1/2" UNF (fine thread) instead of 7/16" UNF as required by A-Bodies. So what would these 1/2" UNF lug nuts be for -- big Buicks? Mopars? Furds? I got no idea. -- Steve
Ford is 1/2. In the day a lot of MOPAR products had left and right threads on them too. As I remember the B body and later A body were 5 on 4 1/2 like the Ford and there was a small 4 1/4 on Darts and early Cudas, Valiants ect
Korrie, Contact board member Skierkaj. As far as I know he as done a lot of research on the MWS wheels. As far as price I have no idea, but they are some of the coolest wheels out there! Hope John can help you. http://www.v8buick.com/member.php?4101-skierkaj
I'm not the expert on these! LOL! Guy Parquette here that already chimed in knows quite a bit. Keystone wheels are my thing- another "love 'em" or "hate 'em" type of situation.
I love these wheels. I have a set of 15 inch spyders on my 69 GS , a set for my 68 Mopar, and on set at Mcwheels, where we have removed the centers, had them chromed, and are getting them set into new 15 x 7 chrome rims. I also know there will soon be available reproduction centercaps for these wheels, they are in the molding stage right now. Should be ready for sale in a month or so. I would suggest if you do use them that you install a dust shield behind the wheels to hide the drum or disc brake system, just paint them flat black and it will look great with these wheels
i think they are pretty cool, honestly would prefer a simpler 5 spoke, but they no bad, strike me as one of those things that would enhance the look of CERTAIN Vehicles that...... are maybe a bit quirky themselves, like the oddball 80s fox mustangs,or may look good on an eagle sx4 sport. no wait the pontiac fiero they would be bitchin on a fiero ---------- Post added at 06:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:59 PM ----------
I had heard that quite some time ago, and thought to myself . . . "It's about time somebody did that" They're probably the hardest thing to find for these wheels, seeing as a lot of the originals have flattened tops.
thats cool, they look a bit awkward without them, and i suppose the only other alternative youd have short of trading an arm and a leg or mounting an epic journey to hunt them down.would be to wedge pot pie tins in them and just drive fast enough they look legit.
Ill be picking up one of the prototype sets of centers next week. Looking forward to seeing how the finished product actually looks when compared to an original. :TU:
I'm having a buddy in the high-end fountain business make some correct 7/16" UNF-thread first-generation MWS lug nuts for my car -- the goofy pointy ones. They'll be NC-machined from stainless hex stock and may / may not be polished up -- I / we haven't really decided yet. The final price should be $9.00 a lug nut or a little less. (Note on the polishing issue: The machined surfaces at the tip will shine like chrome, but the hex flats won't unless automatically or hand polished. I'm fine with the un-polished look, but that's because I'm a slacker.) Right now he's making as many as he can get out of a single piece of stock -- should be at most 75, or as few as 66 depending on machining issues / wastage. So I figure I'll have two sets of at least 22 each left, if anyone wants them. -- Steve
