On our way to Florida, we stopped at the Corvette Museum exit (Bowling Green) to eat at the Wendy's. There were two parking spots by the Wendy's entrance that read "Corvette Parking Only". I thought Corvette guys ate at fancier places like McDonald's or White Castle. Anyway, the ol' GMC Envoy (with a rooftop cargo carrier) slid right in, so I'm not sure why they thought only Corvettes could fit in those spots. :puzzled:

Did any of the Wendy's employees say "nice vette" ?

Actually those spots are wider so the owners butt's can get by.

I dont think thats the real movie car. The original in the movie was right hand drive. I thought the owner of Mid America owns it?

Well, we ARE talking about the Volo Museum afterall. Most of the cars Volo has are as fishy as a :dollar: bill, so it wouldn't surprise me if their "Corvette Summer" car was a fake.

But real or fake, that's one weird front end. :puzzled:

It's advertised as the car that promoted the movie. NOT the Corvette used IN the movie.

Either way, that was one sad looking Corvette.

I loved that movie. I think I was 11 when my parents took me to the drive in to see it. Mom made us leave when Annie Pottsl popped out the top of the van. Mom thought it was a porn movie or something.

Only made me think it was that much more cool. This was a time when there wasn't much going on in my life than cars and I really identified with the main character (fer chrissake, I was only 11). I was more naive than he was! The love Mark Hamill showed to the car was real to me.

I thought the car was cool cause I never saw anything like it before.

I thought Corvettes were cool too... in general... for a bit. By the time the '82s came around even I thought they were getting long-in-tooth (I must have been a genius at 15). I was not impressed with cross-fire injection... not that I was really sure what it was...

My God - Corvette Summer. :Dou:
The car looks disgusting - and it's even worse in person, as I somehow still go to Volo to look around for some reason.

In HS a gal from one of the more well-to-do familes drove an 82', I think.
Well, her boy-toy boyfriend drove it (imagine that - sure, my daughter - you can let your 17 year old boyfriend drive the Vette as much as he wants!)

Most of the Vettes I remember growing up (70s to the present - I haven't grown up yet) were more maintenance than a jet fighter.

Then again, the fastest car I've ever driven is a hopped-up ZR1 that is a street car and runs 10.60s at 127!
Vettes feel too cramped to me - or maybe they give me the cramps - oops - I'm mean craps - oops - aw crap - they're just to dang small on the inside.
How do fat guys fit in these things?!?:puzzled:
That rocker sill is great for tripping - without illegal drugs!

I've bought and sold a couple Corvettes at Volo. They were both good cars, the #2+ condition '66 327 4spd AC coupe I bought in about '83 for $12K, and the 95 ZR1 with just 1800 (eighteen hundred) miles that I sold. It was as good as new, and had never even changed the oil yet. Took a $15K haircut on that one versus new price. So my point is, some good buys roll through there but I agree you gotta be careful. In my experience with them I have no real complaints but they are in business to make money. That says it all.
