Theres a guy that advertise shipping cars on this site I saw he was dropping a load off in Seattle area and asked for a quote since he was close by I figured it would make sense for both of us to ask for a quote He wouldnt to give me a price asked me what I wanted to spend typically someone in business knows what they need to quote to make money I would think?? Typically it isn’t the customer to put a value on a service is it? When I told him what I’ve been quoted by other people even though I didn’t ask or expect him to match their price I asked for him to quote again He acted like I insulted him and He wouldn’t quote and said he didn’t want my transport and told me how he had been doing business for years and he wasn’t what I was looking for He said I was just looking for someone cheap Not true I was looking for a professional to quote a price Guy is a real tool
When I'm asked "how much you got" or "how much you willing to spend", I say a dollar, what are you thinking?
Yeah Roy I didn’t have much luck with him as well weird questions and said he was in that area but wasn’t sure etc….so that was that Real question is what did you get
Sounds like a Used Car salesman turned trailer Jockey. For the price of 3-4 times shipping a car A guy can buy a trailer and never deal with shipping again.
That's kind weird.. I would think XX$ per mile.. The body shop that my car is at owner asked me what I wanted to spend... Stumped me for a minute... Thought about it... Kinda of a good way of picking your customers.. To low there are going to be a problem.. To much worse than the low baller.
I'll ask "how much are thinking this will cost" I do this to see if the individual has any idea or I'd prepared. If they say "i have no idea" that's fine I'll educate them,...if they say "I'm not gonna spend more than xxxx" then Ill show them the exit because it's most always 1/3 of wkat I'm gonna tell them,....or they have a good idea of the appropriate range and have done some research,..those are the people I'll work for. I still get guys come by thinking 5k is gonna get them the paint job they're expecting,...they are clueless and I'll happily inform them of such
The fella was doing something similar it sounds,..had you said I'm hoping to get out for $1200 for example he would have them made his decision if you were worth the time to talk too,..an easier less prickish way would have been to figure the cost roughly but we never say things the right way,...just ask the women were with,..haha
I dont transport professionally but when I sell a car and they want it delivered its 1.00 a loaded mile on a open trailer and 1.50 enclosed. Take it or leave it. Will set the trip millage when I load the car and whatever it says when I unload is what they pay
Yes Larry that’s the one It looks like a couple others have had less than positive experience with him on discussing a possible load He knew it was roughly 1500 miles but never would come up with a per mile/ per trip cost it was strange way of doing business
When he first joined the forum there was a member who shared with me a ton of horror stories about him from other forums. I was a moderator at the time however I didn't get involved with trying to verify if these claims were valid or not. I will say there were a LOT of un-happy customers from other forums.
Sounds like the kinda gem I would get with my luck. I had one car transported one time in my history & what a freakin NIGHTMARE that was but long story other than his “if you report me,I will be back because I know where you live and you do not want that”. Of course I reported the load of BS to the company he worked for which turned out it was his WIFE on the other line who listened to the whole story without telling me who she was. His return call was a real joy but good thing he didn’t come back seeking revenge
Maybe you were looking for someone less expensive knowing he was dropping something off in your area and might not want to run empty (i.e. deadhead) to get his next load. Nothing wrong with that.
People just need to flat out practice professionalism in their business and give respect to potential customers, instead of giving "THEM" the business and playing mind games with them. Word of mouth can either kill your success in business or edify it. Thanks red67wildcat for the warning. ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️
