I never had trouble with Purolator, never heard anything bad about them I've been told Wix is really really good. I'd like to say they make NAPA's filters, too. I couldn't find Wix and the nearest Napa is almost an hour drive in the opposite direction from the car ou: I'm using the K&N disposable filter right now. Same price as the Mobil 1 I had been using (~12-14 bucks). It is an expensive filter, but when I compare it to taking the crankshaft out and polishing it, suddenly 14 dollars is cheap  Since my oil is 6 bucks a quart I figured why half buck it anyway. heck my new bearings cost more than 14 bucks, so what the hey, maybe it's overkill but I need peace of mind
they do make napa filters , Oreilly autoparts has now started to stock wix filters as well. Do you have this chain where you live????
O'reilly? never heard of it. I have Pep Boys, lappens, and Autozone. i think maybe a Motive Parts as well. Two Speed Shops. Not bad, I guess
Yep, thats a fact jack. I compared the new TA timng cover I bought a couple of years ago to the old original timing I had and the TA timing cover fuel pump bolt holes are drilled further forward than the stock cover. I also use the TA steel billet double roller timing chain and there is no noise from it whatsoever.
This one's better. had to fiddle with the settings, the pics were getting spoiled from sunlight coming in through the door I took these before I started it, just in case it went up in flames
Different. I almost expected to see all red. Should paint your raised letters black on the intake and V covers to finish it off. Looks good though. I'm jelous.
I was thinking of the red raised letters, actually. I still might do that. When I mocked up the engine last year to decide what color to paint the covers, I really started to like the natural aluminum look exactly because it wasn't what you usually see I'm thinking of tossing the valve covers on the milling machine at work, and milling some of the raised horizontal ridges off. Then I'll have space for some "Stage 1" fender badges on the valve covers. The covers are really thick, I could machine a couple divots in there and then trim the fender badge mounting pedastals down, and use some of the high temp aerospace adhesive we use to hold them in place. I should have done it, but I didn't want to get too fancy before I knew it would run! thanks for the compliment, James :TU:
Well I said black as your oil cap is black. I first thought red but the artist in me got thinking. [left handed] with the wite or offwhite color on the V covers the black will be more dramatic. [Stand out] Plus I was glad not to just see a sea of red. You didn't cookie cutter it. Sort of like how some events are a sea of black GNs. Ya think someone would of repainted one of them by now. [& not black]
Oh, the oil cap is chrome. The lighting makes it look black. I hate chrome underhood personally, but I was stuck- the covers are a light clolor, so the chrome at least didn't look wierd. It does look black though, know that I look again. Just polished chrome I actually saw a white Regal T-Type that looked great, probably because it was the opposite of the same old same old Black on Black cars
Chris, Nice looking engine! I just polished the "BUICK" letters on my covers. A pic if you're interested: 462 Devon
