The trick about painting consolettes is that every speck of the old paint needs to be removed. If any black is left, it sits in the grain and when you paint it, it really shows
Today's project...the consolette got a coat of Sem trim black.[/QUOTE] A repro "clutch rod boot"? I'm out, LOL
I'm probably answering my own question here, but it looks like the trim black has a little more shine then the satin. I used the satin black for the grille and headlight surrounds on my 442 and they came out awesome, I'm thinking the trim black is better for interior parts.
It depends on what your painting. Rustoleum satin black is perfect for underhood parts, grills, undercarriage parts like differential covers Sem trim black has a slightly flatter finish. Perfect for consolettes. Sem landau black is a vinyl dye. I use it for anything in the interior like dash pads, kick panels, armrests, door panels, etc.
I went in the basement and just pulled a nice used ps bracket out of stock instead of stripping the paint off the one in the car.
Not much going on today. I did do a little research on the power steering bracket hardware. One bolt and one washer was incorrect. I had the right stuff on hand. Bolts were cleaned up and painted in eastwood zinc phosphate paint. The house project is taking presidence. I'm feeling the pressure to get the ceiling up Bob the welder couldn't drop what he was doing today and take care of my crisis I walked in and he said, "you got some junk for me to fix?" Lol.....told me to come back Saturday. I'll go back with a 12 pack of bud. Kelsey tire called and said the G60s are off backorder. So I have 4 polygas tires en route. The goal is to get the car back together by Sunday and drive it.....only to put it back on jsckstands and drop the wheels are tires off. Kills me than Dano lives so far away. If there was only a way he could mount them up!
My contribution to Jason's X project. This was the clock on my 1st Buick, a 1972 Skylark Custom. In case anyone is wondering where the housing went, it sacrificed itself to mount my Autometer Tachometer.
I called last week to order 2 L60’s for my GS and they said maybe January, maybe I’ll get a call sooner too!
I would suggest getting that avatar pic laminated on your air cleaner lid. It should be good for a couple extra HP
Bring 'em down to get match mounted/trued/balanced. I've had ppl travel farther. Guaranteed nobody will do what I do & I bet they'd ride pretty darn good.
