Just got back from the welders... We reinforced the pedal a little and the hole is closed up. Rod had been roughly filed and sanded. Once I redrill the hole, the rod will get its final filing to size
This is one of my favourite recent threads. Jason you are one lucky man to have this car annnd the ability to make it right Keep on keeping on!
Not too much done today on 508. The bedroom project took up most of my time today.....and money Pretty cool. It's laminate ceiling planks. You put up this track and the planks clip in. Even an idiot like me can do it... So even after the bedroom project, I managed to force myself to do something on 508. So I refinished the boot ring. Not much but it's forward progress!
GSX work is on a bit of a hold as I near completion on this bedroom renovation....all that's left is the molding around the ceiling and putting the room back together... Did I mention that I hate carpentry?
Make sure you don’t nail into those ceiling panels when installing the molding. Only nail to walls as the ceiling panels need to move.
Jason stopped by today and picked up the clock lens. Weather for Friday (Bellmore Cruise Night) is looking increasingly better, just chilly.
Ha! Thanks Fred. Yep, I read that in the instructions and left all the right gaps at the walls too. My ocd extends into everything!
I was able to get a little time in the garage today and start putting stuff back on the car instead of taking it apart. I gave the clutch pedal a thin dusting of sem trim black in only the affected areas. Once it dried, it was difficult to tell what was refinished- just the way I like it! I pulled the bolt thst hangs the pedals and cleaned up all the plastic bushings and metal sleeves. The 50 year old brown grease was like concrete. Re-greased everything up with pyroplex red and re-hung the pedals, installed the upper clutch rod and new boot. Everything is back in place. Did a little repair to the firewall pad that goes around the steering column and installed the toe panel. Pedal action is smooooooooth! No more creaky clutch pedal! As you can also see, the cluster is mostly back together. I gave the lenses a light polish and replaced all the silvered bulbs.
I use mothers metal polish or flitz with a microfiber rag. If that isn't effective enough, I have a small polishing wheel thst I put in my cordless drill. I use it on a slow speed. Once most of the scratches are out, I'll follow up with a little spray wax.
Unfortunately, I don't think the taxi cab is gonna make it. Still have to install the cluster and put the dash back together On another note, I got a delivery of polyglas G60's waiting at my friends shop.
Jason if u have any ceramic wax or sealant try it i used it on my fake woodgrain on the Riviera and dash lens it worked great
