The car was actually off. The oil gauge works because the sender was retained when the oil pressure gauge was installed. The green wire for the water gauge is just hanging out doing nothing. The gauges are coming out eventually
Thanks! It's at a point right now where I know the car inside and out. Everything works, steering, suspension and brakes are all checked out and I "trust" the car enough to take it on long drives. Still plenty of little projects to do on it though
Mine will be as well over the winter. I'm sending my tach and gauges to Scott, cleaning up the cluster and most likely installing the new woodgrain BYoung got me at the Nationals.
And special thanks to frank st elmo on selling me this gorgeous nos big block fan clutch! Frank offered at no charge I might add, to kick it around his driveway so it would more closely match the patina of the car. I graciously declined And my window sticker arrived! Looks period correct!
508 got about 100 miles put on her this weekend. She really made the rounds Did a couple things- I was cleaning out my toolbox and found an original ribbed radiator to overflow hose. Put that on. The engine compartment is really starting to look old! Lol I also found an original hose thst goes from the booster to the engine. Even had the original clamps on it! I knew I saved this crap for a reason! I finally gave it a good bath, vacuumed it out and removed all the empty coffee cups shes sitting all washed and waxed in the garage.
What’s wrong with 508??? When I was driving my 72 442 Fastback as a daily driver the clock didn’t work, so I set it to 5:01. To me that meant that whenever I got in the car work was over, as in after 5PM, and I was off the clock. I actually had a salesman try to sell me a mobile phone for that car. You should have seen how fast I chased him out of my building when he said they had to drill holes in the dash to install it. I had just welded up the dash to fix holes a previous owner drilled into it. Duane
