People think I'm nuts to leave mine unattended in a parking lot while I grab a few groceries. To some extent, I see the point but that could also fall along the same lines as simply driving it on public roads. We all know NO ONE pays attention behind the wheel these days. My head is literally on a swivel when I'm driving mine and I've learned to leave A LOT of space between myself and other cars. Truth be told: I'm almost more comfortable leaving it in a store parking lot than unattended at a car event. Car event attendees are more likely to know what it is they're looking at, which has the potential for stuff to go missing.
I can't let myself worry about that stuff. Yes, I will take the normal precautions by parking in a less crowded area...but not driving the car because of fear that it might get dinged, or worse, wrecked? Nope. Keep your insurance healthy and up to date.
Nice work, Jason. Following your new project. As far as dings and dents go, I was quite proud of the paint job I did on my car, It was months of welding and sanding. I went so far as to knife-edge the sweepspear. THAT's a lot of careful sculpturing. Perfect for photos or show, but got over it after a few door dings. Devon
If I walked out of my local grocery store and saw that awesome car sitting in the lot it would sure stop me in my tracks. Keep enjoying it Jason. I agree completely. I can't live in fear and every car we have, even the frame-off stuff, eventually gets turned into a driver after it does the initial year or two as a show car. Why save it for the next guy? Insure it properly and use it in some capacity. The only exception I can think of in the Buick GS world is Brad's '70 GSX show car. That's really the only truly unique GSX in existence and doesn't have an equal. I would struggle to take it out onto public roads since it's truly 1 of 1.
I wasn't referring to accidental stuff really & I'm certainly all for driving them! It's the ppl that would intentionally damage it sitting in a parking lot just because that concern me and the idiots @ a local show based on the stories. Heck, I've had 2 cars damaged in the staging lanes and one of them was @ the Nationals so not safe anywhere.
Have to admire that about you Adam, you not only talk the talk, you walk the walk. I remember when we went to Cedar point in your 60's Buick?, and we left it in the parking lot. Not sure I could ever be out of sight of my 70 for that long.
That was an awesome trip. Yep, the ol' 60 Electra conv. I think I left the top down too? Probably not...
Yeah, that was fun, went on every roller coaster in the Park. I have pictures of the car in the lot, you and Yardley. Can't find it right now.
Like this post a lot! Like what you are doing with your car Jason. As to driving them, i like to go out in mine quite often. But i do keep an eye on it. This was taken at a local burger joint in town.
I drive my cars EVERYWHERE and drive them like they were automobiles. This includes stores, shops, super markets, etc. I have insurance so if someone takes the car out, so be it. I care what happens to those IN the car... Not so much what happens TO the CAR...
Who is the poor member who's 70 Yellow GSX was hit from behind and caused good damage while parked about 2 years ago by a girl who miss judged the distance.. That broke my heart, actually all the member hearts at the time. Car clubs, car events, car club brothers you would think they care for one another but reading Hemmings or MCR a while back 2 80'era Hurst Olds were stolen during a big event. 20 years ago I wouldn't even think to smudge the rear plate of classic I might of had.
Jason what’s the bill date of your car ? Also I know you’ve been busy with your new toy did you happen to see the return conversation I sent to you about shipping for the screen and payment options.
