The Aquamist car was about in the same condition. The aquamist car had car quest shocks, an exhaust from Midas, various stuff was replaced and repaired when the car was just a "used car" Alot of times people don't have the ability to refinish original parts. So why not just get a reproduction part? Like Eric Stoldt's original paint X, which is about 30 miles away, this car also suffered from a mis guided attempt to spiff it up with a silver and black spray can. But the right guy is on it. I'm going to right all the wrongs and get this car where it needs to be. The devil is in the details!
Jason- I can check when I get home. I am almost sure I have the one from my 70 4 speed boxed in the eves... IF there is a part number. If not, I can get you a length..
Jason, I believe the Speedo cables have letter codes embossed into them. Also if memory serves me correct the 4-speed cable lengths were different if you needed the ratio adapter or not. You might need to see what you have. Duane
It would be easy enough to retain your original sheath and replace only the cable. Get a long chunk and cut it to the right length.
Jason, I have a couple cables laying around both 60”. Free if you want to give me a few bucks to ship.
I think that's the ticket Joe. I have 3 of them I think I'm going to wind up doing that w/ although 2 of those get the ratio adapter which I don't have so we'll see there. I see the wrong adapters come up for sale which might have to suffice.
Mine was making noise when I got my car, but dissembling it and lubing it thoroughly (I think I used white lithium grease) made it behave (over 15 years now).
Identification for a 70 BB 57" long (4-speed floor shift, when adapter 396338 is specified) (P#6477338) BA 70" long (4-speed floor shift, when adapter 396338 is not specified) (P#6477341) Duane
If you guys bought assembly manuals you could even see the routing of the cables. They have the drawings. I think Adam has one. Duane
Mirror is all polished up and reinstalled While I'm waiting on parts, I thought I would polish up the spokes on the wheel and clean up the horn contacts. The horn cap had a slightly tweaked part that wouldn't allow it to sit correctly on the horn contact. So I drilled out the three rivets and straightened it out. A little 0000 steel wool and some metal polish later-
