Re: this is weird, but how true could this be

Strike or not in 1970, I can't imagine the problem would show up 28 years later. If the wrong length driveshaft was installed all these years it would have showed up before, or atleast I think it would. As I see it either the motor has moved back (broken motor mount/mounts) or the rear end has moved forward (wornout control arm/s bushings, bent control arm/s. This same problem happened to me once on a "G" body Malibu and the cause was the right upper control arm bushing came out of the housing and allowed the rearend to move forward which inturn cracked the tailshaft and broke the bell housing. Take your time and inspect the things I have listed (as well as others) and you will find the cause of your problem. Good luck.

sounds good, i will have to do some checking out back for bad bushing and whatnot. the car only has 17890miles on it, just sat forever before i got ahold of it. does anyone know what the length of the driveshaft is? and what length it needs to be for the TH400 4" tail? right now i know i need a new transmission, and was looking a dr.evil transmission( hes a big buick guy too). www.dreviltransmissions.com , called 1100 bucks gets me a th400 with yoke, stall, and cooler, 12 month/12000 mile unlimited warranty rated at 800hp. called the pure evil trans. im going to put a th400 for the 455 im building, hopeing for 500hp, just what TA is saying with the combo. anyone heard of this tranny, or one similar in price, power rating, ect. let me know, thanks
