1996, Wife walked in on a guy standing in front of the open fridge eating out of a tub of ice cream. She had only been gone for 30 mins with our 5 yr old son . Was 8 months pregnant and got really pissed this low life was eating her cookies n cream. Bad guy ran out the back door with wife hot on his tail. He tried to climb over the 6' fence in the back yard but she snatched his azz down. He then ran outta the gate with angry mama on the cordless phone with 911 right behind him. She watched him go into a scumbag hotel 1/2 a block down where the cops caught up with the guy. He claimed PTSD and agent orange and was later found not guilty in court. Funny he had 9 priors for B&E. She was on the local news that night.

I'm not disagreeing w/any of the ideas here, but I bet a floodlight on a motion sensor would make the cockroach scatter.

Here's a second view. I can see my neighbors driveway in the shot to the right. He got spooked once and dove in between the cars but even that floodlight didn't stop him from sitting in their car for a good while. Their floodlight has a camera, I wonder if the quality is better so my I can Identify the person if I run into them around the block.

A true deterrent has to be physiological and unexpected. I have had a neighbor with the door bell camera that "whistles" have packages stolen. The wonders of mainstream product are they also educate theives. Thief tested the reaction and picked up the second package moments later. So, yes light is critical and cameras but you need to add something unexpected. You also need to increase visibility or openness of your yard, driveway etc. There are plenty of youtube videos and articles on the topic.

My old man caught 2 guys in my Cherokee one night years ago when I lived at home. (we never locked our car doors then, no need to so we thought). He came outside quietly then lit them up with a big handheld spotlight and parked 2 rounds of 40 s&w in my mom's flower bed to his right. These dudes dropped everything and could've outran Usain Bolt. Via his description and a little old school sleuthing I tracked them down to their house (turned out it was 2 teenage brothers). Knocked on the door and told their mom if they were caught on the property again, the next 2 rounds weren't going into the ground. I could see them peaking around a hallway corner at me. Never saw them again.

Don’t discount your dog just cause she’s a girl and not as big as dasrottweiler’s, dogs will fight relentlessly to protect their owner or if the dog just plain don’t like you:p

This thread made me remember about a customer's car years ago at a body shop I worked at. This guy was a big baller gangland drug dealer. He didn't trust shops near him so he drove out to the burbs. He would show up decked out in allot of gold. Overall a guy you would want on your side if crap went down. If you had an issue this was the guy that would take care if it. My boss had him do some " collections " for him. It sure appeared he was the king of his hood no doubt.

He had a 90's Convertible Mustang GT. Pearl White with a maroon top. Hammer wheels, custom wood grain dash, " Mustang " air brushed on the lower parts of the doors along with that wide 90's stick on chrome.

Well he had an alarm that would auto set.. It was very irritating while at the shop. We couldn't turn it off. If we disconnected the battery it would cause issues when we hooked it back up.

It had every kind of sensor possible and the alarm audio the owner recorded.

If you get close to the car you would hear in a chick's voice " BACK OFF"

Then if you didn't you would hear in his voice
" MY GUN IS COCKED AND LOADED"

The final message was " YOU DONE F@CKED UP NOW' Then the alarm would be blazing.

I'm pretty sure nobody messed with his stuff in his neighbor hood.

He also one time recorded on the alarm as a joke to the shop owner " QUIT MOVING MY CAR AND GET YOUR FAT @SS WORKING ON IT"

When I park my ragtop I leave the console lid open and the glove box open. That way they don't have to break in to see what is inside - Nothing. Previous owner had some thief cut a hole in the top and climbed in. Would have been better if he broke the window instead.

I once waited for a repeat thief and when he came i shot a shot gun in his direction but way high. An acreage so no one in the line of fire. He never came back.

Motion detected floodlight in the garage aimed so when he gets to about the car door level it fires off, and then when he spins around half blinded a sign that says SMILE! YOU'RE ON CAMERA! . You get a half decent shot of his face, and then some high quality well lit film showing his intent. Or, the same thing, but when the light goes on a whiz-bang gets detonated; - then you'll also get an easy DNA sample to help find the guy and he won't hear you creep up on him. Likely give him a good headache too as well as wake everyone in the whole neighbourhood. There's more than one way to skin a cat and not have to confront a potentially dangerous drug addled idiot. Safety first!

Yes good point, my neighbor heard some noise outside so he went out and found a guy messing with his truck. The guy attacked him with a big knife but lucky my friend had a hammer in hand. He wacked the guy in the face with the hammer as he attacked... teeth everywhere all over the driveway, 5 pound mini sledge hammer. Guy must have been high as heck he ran off full speed... could have been very bad!

My brother uses fishing line attached to bells in the house. You could do it and put the bells or a popper that would pop when the fishing line gets pulled. He got his lawnmower stolen last year so now he has that fishing line attached to door and going upstairs to his bedroom with the bells attached to it.
You can hardly see the fishing line even on a nice sunny day can hardly see it.

he also did another one that is attached to the door where his Harley is parked outside in his shed.

Shoot them with the paint ball gun it will be easy to find them.

If some goofball is climbing your fence to get to your yard you can get some scrap ink from your local print shop and put it on top It never dries for a while and Purple is nasty and hard to get off
    I'm a printer I know
