Dropped some larger underhood pieces at a local blaster.Weather for painting anything outside is starting to fade quickly.
I kinda had the same problem. I didn't give them too much grief though. It was a friends shop, they did not have the specs on the computer for anything older than 1984, and the rear sensors would not fit on the wheels, due to the lower wheel openings on the quarters. They did their best using 1984 Regal specs, and going by the front sensors only. Plus, I made some changes to the suspension.
Goal for today is to 1 measure and adjust the pushrods for preload and install.2, Install intake manifold. 3,Remove inner valve springs and get the engine to where it will fire then do cam break in. If thats successful reinstall inner springs and complete the reassembly and clean up the engine bay for next weeks BOPC show
Ok got everything on my list done. Thinking it was a success. Still got some lifter noise but now it seems like all of them just slightly out of adjustment instead of 1 or 2 hammering away under the valve cover. Tomorrow I'll replace the inner springs and add another turn to the push rods. Hope it quiets down. Heres a short vid I made during the spring removal process. There was one, # 8 Ex the tools just would not work on due to the evap box being in the way.
Got 9 pieces back from the blaster yesterday, looked pretty good. As usual; some more rust pitting than was obvious. Got 5 of them sanded down/ Scothbrite'd/ prepped & primed. Cowl vents, rear valance, and the underhood cross brace (that the grille hangs from) will need a touch of filler. Cross brace ('59) :
Pulled the tranny from the 73 for a drum and sprag upgrade. Replaced the pinion seal while I was under it.

I squashed it Got it ready to go in the garage for the winter to finally get it's new motorvator... I will have a thread on the new injected 560. The squash on the injector in the picture below was one of 15 we got the Sunday at a local farm stand. They are big....
Finished up everything yesterday and pulled it out for a ride. My 7 yr old Optima battery has finally given its last start and have had to use a jump box several times over the last few weeks despite being on a charger for days wont go over 11V. The plan was to drive to the parts store, get the battery tested, replace if needed ( really no question there). Got onto the street in front of the house and hammered it, did a really nice smokey burnout. Put my foot on the brake pedal to slow down before the dirt portion of my road and it went to the floor. Chit! turn around and go back to the garage. Looking under the car behind the L front tire I see fluid dripping. Traced it down to a hard line behind the washer reservoir . Looks like its been rubbing on the plastic for years and the washer fluid had for some reason rusted a hole through the line. If its gotta leak thats the easiest place to fix. short line from the master to the proportioning valve and easy access. Drove the 97 to the store, got a new battery and a piece of brake line. did what needed to be done. By then it was getting onto 5pm.Mixed up some JB weld and patched the hole in the reservoir Closed up shop and made dinner.
Didn’t do anything to the Buick. I did go to Summit Racing to get some Moroso A&B epoxy for my 350 heads. I took my dog Sky with me for the ride, all our dogs have been to Summit at one time or the other
