I guess this question depends on how you define macho, but my three top pics are... 3. 1971-1973 Buick Riviera 2. 1960 Chrysler 300 with the cross-ram 413 and a 4-speed. 1. Early 60's Pontiac Catalina convertible with a high compression tri-power V8 and a 4 on the floor.
67 vette How about the 67 corvette with the 427 tri-power 435 horse:grin: Drove one of these when i was a youngin!
Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am!!! With big sideburns and mustache, a too tight polyester shirt, and cowboy boots!!
Macho Riv's? Sorry macho cars should be barely streetable race cars. They must have sticks. No air, no radio, cams that that make your putter flutter :Brow: Who needs power steering! Most women don't want to ride in them much less drive them. (well realy bad girls wanted to go for a ride! ) 1. 427 Cobra 2. the late 60's Hemi cars with the aluminum fenders and stuff 3. 63 Ford 427 cars built for NASCAR and drag racing The only acceptable way to drive one is wearing jeans and t-shirt with a pack of cicarettes rolled up in the sleave.
Correction: Not just a mustache, but a CAMARO MUSTACHE (or trans am stache in this case) You know, the one that only will grow in really thin and patchy:grin:
I would say the cars that were built that first carried our namesake, namely the 5 Corvette Gran Sports. Or for a production vehicle, one of the 427 AC Cobras. They were like putting a Big Block on a skate board. Duane
1970 Charger 440 1972 Olds 442 W-30 1967 Buick GS 1966 Olds Toronado As for movie cars, Both of the race cars in American Graffiti (street rod and 55 chevy) The 442 in Demolition Man 68 Charger in Bullitt
Milner's coupe was a Ford, a 32 or a 34, I can't tell the difference. Did you know that the car Harrison Ford (Bob Falfa) drove in American Graffiti was the car that was the hot rod driven by James Taylor in Two Lane Blacktop? It's not the same YEAR car, it's the same car! A Ford Thunderbolt driven on the street is gonna be hard to beat for macho. So would a swiss-cheese Catalina, a factory altered wheelbase Mopar, or a Super Stock Plymouth:shock:
I am not sure of the year, but I am pretty sure it is 1968 Hemi Dart easily capable of making 725 HP. It really looked like it was on steriods.
Chris, why yes, yes I did know about the 55. I heard a rumor that it's supposed to be powered by a 324 Olds, but I really doubt that. And the coupe was a 32. Flatties are kewl. Oh yeah, and did you know that the plate on the 32 was something like THX 138 - the name of George Lucas' first movie, and THX is also the name of his special effects company.
wasn't there a late 70's trans am that was actually called "Macho".... I'll have to look it up here it is http://www.transamtech.com/machotech.html
What about the C3 Corvette? I bet every one of the Village People owned one of these cars at some point in time!
While on a trip to San Francisco for my wife's birthday, we were walking to the Haight/Asbury area and came across the most macho car (outside of the Smokey & the Bandit TA and sideburns); how can you argue with a 59' Caddy hearse with a VW mounted up top... in BLACK!?
