Gary, Count me in for Vegas. It's going to be a kick racing with all Buick folks. How can we get ahold the host hotel? Gary, how far of a drive it is for you - I'm at about 6 1/2" hours Thanks, Wes
Hey Gary, Still no finnal dates / plans yet? It's only about 4 to 5 months away. It would sure be nice to finnalize the plans / sleeping arangments. Rich
Nothing new. I wrote to Jon Whittington some time ago but have not heard back. The event IS on the LVMS schedule for Oct. 4 and there is some chatter on the turbo board (link to it from the BPG BB) and they are asking the same questions. Hopefully, we'll hear something soon. Wes, I'm 7.5 or so hours from Vegas. Something along 440 miles.. hmmm.. must be 455 miles maybe. I drive Elko-Ely-Vegas, down US93
:bglasses:Gary as you know by now 95% chance of making it to Vegas will probally dive the GS unless it looks like snow in the North if so trailer for sure I'm already alljazzed up and still have over 3 months to go Ben 69 GS 400 (462)
Ben, Do you suppose the Ute will let us use his trailer for an emergency? I'd hate to break down in Vegas or between and have to figure out how to get a car home. My daughter, son-in-law and grandkids are planning to tag along so I might have them load up in the suburban and tow the trailer while we cruise. October should be perfect weather after the hot summer (or it could snow, like you say). I had a couple inches on the Buick (on a trailer) by the time we hit Wells on the way home last November.
:TU: Gary, I have'nt had a chance to talk to the "UTE" yet but I don't anticipate a problem getting the trailer unless he's going to use it and you know he dos'nt make plans more than 10-15 minutes ahead of time, so if I ask him to soon he would have forgotten about it anyway, I think you know what i mean but I will bring it up when I get a chance ,luck, Ben
http://www.turbobuick.com/messagebd/ For the complete thread go to the bottom of the BB under " South Western Area". ___________________________ Good news Rich..... I'll pass this on to the BPC BB and the BPG BB. Gary -------------------------------- Are you guys inviting the V8 crowd again this year? Is it going to be the 4th only for racing? Nothing scheduled for the night before like last year (even though it got blown out)? Will Main Street Station be the host hotel again? Thanks. I'm TRYING to be patient. Had so much fun last time... Gary Fanning '70 Stage 1 "Horsemeat.. It's what's for Dinner!" ________________________________________ Location: Las Vegas, NV V8's are very welcome. Jon mentioned that we're expecting more this year. Additionally, F-Bodies are under our umbrella this year. This is also Supra, Corvette, Mustang, and Viper day (not associated with us). There may be a significant number of Supras, but I'm guessing minimal from the other makes. And before I hear anything about it, I'll say it again like last year. The track can easily accomodate up to 400 cars. In early October, it'll probably still be high 70's into the 80's here, so you'll probably want 30+ minute cool down times anyhow. Do not let the volume of non-Buicks be a reason to miss this event! Spread the word. The web page should be done and ready this coming weekend. I'll post the address when available. Saturday is the main race. Friday afternoon/evening is Test and Tune until ~9 P.M. Then at 10 P.M. Midnight Mayhem runs until well into the early morning. Hundreds of cars attend this, usually a bunch of 15+ second imports. You can participate in it, if you like more TnT time. Finally, here's the organization, so please direct questions accordingly: Jon -- rules, "the main man", etc. Craig -- working with vendors, apparel, etc. Jack -- Web page things only So if you would like to be a sponsor, contact Craig, and I'll then work with you to set up a banner ad, etc. __________________ Jack Bilger 87 GN 12.30 @ 109 Coolflow Intracooler, TE60, 009's RJC AD Plate, ATR 210/210 cam
Looks Like we'll be going also, as of now I'll be in the GN running TSM, but if they don't run it for some reason I'll take the GS. We're going to arive a few days early, just need to make sure I have a "safe" place to park the trailer a few days. Think we need to have a Pre-Race Race at the Sahara a day or two before... :Brow: Hmmm, "only" a 31 hour drive.........
I forgot to mention in that post from TB.COM, we haven't chosen the hotel yet. We're going to try for the downtown again this year since most are comfortable there. As soon as it's firmed up we'll pass on the info. I'm glad to see there's this much enthusiasm from the V8 crowd!
That is good news Gary. I'm going ahead and marking the 3rd and 4th down then. I'm also aranging the necessary time off from work
Keith: I like to get there about a week early. I have parked (camped) at the track lot and have never been bothered. Good security. The gates are locked at ten each evening. The security guards showed me how to bypass the gate. Had a blast at Great Lakes. Nothing wrong with taking home 2nd place money. 3 Buicks in the finals. Not bad.
I'm still shootin' for the meet in vegas, hope to hear more details on times and hotels. sounds like lots of fun !!! Bruce
Vegas I'll be there with my 68 convert. It should be back together by then. If not we will bring the 72. Look forward to seeing you all Jim
I was considering it, but Wally and Michelle are getting married on October 4 and a certain '68 Red GS Convertible is expected to be there!!!!!!!
C'mon Doug.. DO IT! Snag that 9sec. Rick guy, Denny & Renee (w/blender), and grab Mr. Garrison on your way through Kansas.
