The trunk that you can see is too thick of a coat

Yeah thinner is the way to go. Also to have a more uniformed look, when I did my old LeSabre, I had my dad apply the paint with a foam roller and then I followed him with another roller to smooth and even out the paint, that way you can't see every pass made with the roller. Then after I let the paint cure for a week or so after I sanded, I applied a thinner coat to even it all out, then after that cured, I got some wax that had a rubbing compound in it and buffed it to an even finish.

is this about how covered yours was after the first run through or does it look to thick?

did you just let the weight of the brush roll the paint out or did you kind of push it down and let some come out?

im looking for the best method from people who have already done it

i think im gonna do about 4 or 5 coats.

    any tips?

Yeah thats pretty close to what mine looked like. I used the wait of the roller, because I noticed if I went to hard, air bubbles would form and they were a pain to sand out afterwards. I did about 4 coats then a final fifth coat. You are doing a great job, it will look great once it is finished. I can't wait until spring to do my Skylark. Right now it is primered black, with a top coat of snow. Keep up the good work.

I think I might keep a fender from work and buy some of this stuff and try it just to see how good I could get it to look. I might be able to show up our painters, would be cool to make a panel look better than a professionally sprayed car. :beers2:
