They are the same except that they aren't heavy duty. One of the differences is that the side bearings are the same size. In '70, the left one is larger. I have also seen some '69s that were medium-duty instead of the 4 spider arrangement. But then, I have also seen some '70s that were the medium-duty variety. So, to answer the question, yes they will work but look at it before you buy! 3:64 came in both 69 and 70 non air Stage1 cars
Matt Just to add what JC has said ,1970 8.2 Buick Pontiac 10 bolts are a one year only axle ,they were also upgraded with 7/16 diameter ring gear bolts than earlier used 3/8 bolts.Very unique axles upgraded for the big cube motors released in 1970
Ive seen them both ways on a 70 stage 1, so shouldnt it work either way? Whos to say that it isnt correct if they made them both ways? My car was an august build of 1969. That means either one should work.....right? Thanks
Correct. Either H-D or medium duty axles could have showed up in the cars. I had a yellow GSX years ago with the medium duty rear which had never been out of the car. MOST of them came with the good one though.
A longshot but, I just pulled a complete original 8.2 3.23 posi from a 1970 convertible. I have not been able to find a code stamping yet even though it is pit/rust free, but dirty. I'm thinking it is a unstamped '70 posi. I could look closer if you were interested.
