Shawn, Are you finally able to buy the Yuengling? My son is drinking the stuff, especially when it is in dad's fridge. Dave
My favorite beer is free. 2nd favorite is cold If I'm buying, it's Budweiser or Shiner. I went through the Shiner facility again last week. Cool place.
Yeah, we've had it in Ohio for a few years now. It was a big deal when it finally started getting distributed here and has become a main stay.
Yuengling Interesting how it came to Alabama. A Yuengling executive sent his daughter to school in Tuscaloosa. She complained to her father that there was no Yuengling to drink in Alabama. So, Dad fixed that for her.
Hey Shawn, is it anything like Amber Bock from Michelob? I can drink a bunch of boombas of that when I'm at McKenzie's Pub out by me, it been a while since I've been there though. If its like that I REALLY need to try that stuff! Sounds good. Another one I like is Molson Golden, have to have a local party store order it in a 12 pack or its more than likely always skunked in the 6 packs that sit there for months! Labatt 50 is really good as well but same deal as the Molson Golden. Man I wish you never told me about that 1 year only Guinness! Now I feel like I totally missed out. Derek
Any you fellas try Dead Guy, I can only handle 6 or so and then I start crying or wanna destroy everything I can ha
Yuengling, when I was stationed in SC I had my first experience. Used to smuggle some home by the Jeep load (imagine a Jeep TJ loaded with a weekend bag and cases of beer). Years later it came to Ohio and haven't stopped since. Only 1 place in Ohio I will buy a Guinness from a tap. Matter of fact I'm having one as I typed this.
When I was young I believed quantity was cool, now I like 4 heavy hitters and call it good, no hang over, cheaper, and less mess to clean up. I fondly remember the days of 15pints getting home at 5 and waking up a 7 working and doing it all over the next nite, now it takes two days to recover from a 6 pack ha, I'm either getting older than I realize or just need to clean the sand out ha
I was using yuengling as my go to but it went down just a little too smooth! Now garage fridge stocked with only local beer. Sam Adams has a huge brewery here so it is always fresh. Rheingheist, Mad Tree and Christian Moerlein are all good. My favorite is the cold one in my hand - hmmm, I'm thirsty!
Derek, if you like Amber bock I'd bet you'd like Yuengling quite well actually. It's not the same per say, but probably closer to Amber bock than bud. Color is somewhere in between. Lager flavor, but richer than bud. And yeah, I too am sorry you missed Guinness 250. For one whole year it's about all I drank. Theres an Irish pub in Dayton that's known as one of the best in the country, called the Dublin Pub (it's actually the largest purveyor of Irish whiskey in Ohio). I was there the night when 250 was introduced, and I actually got the very last one they sold about a year later. I've had Rogue dead guy many times! Yeah, it's good, but like you I'm only good for a few of them. Another one in the same vein you should try is New Holland Dragons milk. It's a big boy beer, don't plan to slam a six pack or you'll feel like you ate a 22 ounce steak and then got hit by a bus. Ted, working in cincy I too am well versed in the micros in the 'nati. Lotsa good stuff! Plus rivertown just opened their new location near me, it's excellent (just ask taulb!) They even smoke all their own meats.
I'm curious about this yuengling. I don't think I've seen it here before. Maybe I could find it at BevMo? I'm also curious if you folks have tried 805 or any other Firestone Walker beer. They're the major microbrewery here and have expanded quite a bit. The craft beer thing here is also going nuts, but a lot of it the trendy IPA which I really don't like.
