I can’t see that car selling for over $5000

Me thinks there's been a Freudian slip:

    It deserves a proper burial.

All it needs is a donor ‘69 Flint convertible…

Then we can vin swap, very popular with the “original” crowd.

Sorry-I’m not suggesting it, but I’m glad the ad with the VIN got saved-it nay show up ‘restored’ later, with a lack of photos of the ‘restoration’.

The license plate would most certainly support your thesis:D

Even the laundry basket is cracked. Darn shame, looks like a 1.6 bushel Rubbermaid too.

The Montreal Gazelle reports Mr. Monet Le Pew discovered a giant tin worm near the right quarter panel of this 1969 Buick.

You guys are harsh. Based on your comments and views about rusty cars we should have crushed my mom’s GTO and my dad’s ‘70 GS rather than saving them. We’ve enjoyed driving, showing, and racing both of these cars despite the fact that both required extensive metal repairs.

It's understandable that you would want to save a family car but there is a big difference in already owning one and paying $20K for one.

Ethics aside, even a rebody is a losing proposition at $20k. If a person could buy it for a 1/4 of that, then it might be saveable the right way (or at least a beater or driver).

Neither was a family car so there was no sentimental value involved. I bought each car as a clapped out rust bucket and my dad saved them by replacing metal. I hope that someone will do the same for this rare ‘69.

Most Buicks purchased as a restoration project are a losing proposition $$$$$ regardless of the initial purchase price. Sad but true.

The car might be restorable but with Jacques lack of underside photos - who knows?

I will say this, the amount of parts available for this car is extremely finite, and unless you're sitting on a stash second to none, you're looking at a very, very long term project and / or buying extremely expensive parts cars.

The photos shown are enough to know that it will need basically every external body panel, trunk pan and floor pans. Nothing about this car would be easy or cheap, including the price of entry. If someone wants a real, documented ‘69 Stage 1 convertible, all of the negatives might not matter.

I don't see any problem with someone fixing this car if it's their dream car but it would have to be. Like beauty, "worth" saving is in the eye (& wallet) of the beholder. I hope someone does want to and that the seller comes to their senses on the price. As noted, collecting parts for it will be quite the task. It'd probably be worth ponying up good money for a donor Skylark to harvest the necessary sheetmetal. Even a 4-door would provide much of the necessary parts.

Well this sucks because I am sitting on that stash of parts mostly NOS and some repro stuff. I would have to locate some metal though.
