Thanks Bob and Dan. What a great time. This year I raced with both of my son's. We had a great family weekend. Thanks to JJ for the spark plug wires and Terry Pennington for the intake push rod. Just when you think you've packed every thing from the garage you break someting else:Do No: My car also ran a best ever of 13.1 at 109.4MPH. What an awesome weekend.

This is about the quietest you guys have seen me for a while. I am still PO'd about the truck. I know it is never the same once you have flogged your own stuff to show up without your car. Now, I just have to get my stuff in a pile for the race in KC and set a personal best there!!!

For everyone who gave a rip about my junk, thanks. It helped with the pain.

I have to give a huge shout out to my buddy, Kurt Karch. He turned his keys over to me on Saturday and let me flog on his '69 H/O. His main instructions to me where to do a "serious" burnout. Tried to oblige!

To the Glasco family, you guys are class. Since the timing tower screwed up the pairing, they were happy to fill in for one broken shower stall and go up against the '63 Max Wedge. They were then the 'underdog' and I was unable to find out how their pairing went. Hope the Magnum did well.

To the parking lot chefs, I am looking forward to next year already. Benoit, that was the best catfish I have had since my Grandpa. Made me miss him even more!

To the guys that thrash, I am still in amazement. The Can-Am crew that rebuilt the 9" in Benoit's pony, I am still slack jawed.

Pete and JJ, glad to see the 2 of you at the top again.

Donny Brass, glad to see that the engine can stay in the car after this race! I am going to have to carry a bigger stick or some mouse bait in my pocket now!

Paul V., I am glad to see that you have that big barge runnin' hard!

To all of the rest of you, even when my car was not able to show, you are the reason that I traveled 750 miles to come to this race. As Hodges told me over the phone on his way to see his Marine graduate boot camp, only this graduation and a couple of other life events will keep him (and me) away from this event.

And to all of you that welcomed my Dad into the fold, I appreciate it! He admitted that it was a good time to be had by all. He still questions my sanity, but understands part of it now!

And last but not least, Dan and Bob!!!! Whatever you do, don't take this weekend away from us!! If you need help, please let us know and I am sure that assistance will come from near and far!

As a nonparticipant and first time attendee, I have to say that was the most fun I had had in a long time. I couldn't stop talking about it all day on Sunday. What a rush! I will attend every year from now on.

The cars were specatular and the races were down right exciting. I was so impressed at how well the cars were matched up against each other. I became a Studabaker fan from seeing them run on Saturday in all their gaudiness. Favorites to watch were the Buicks, vettes and god love them the 57 Ford and Mercury Maurader. I think the the crowd got most excited watching them go neck and neck.

I also liked the race between the studabaker and GTO when the GTO stalled at the line and the studdy decided to cruise the rest of the way, but then the GTO fired up again and took off. The crowd was yelling at the studdie to keep going. Again, very exciting stuff. Lesson learned-- never quit. I could go on about all the cars but I'll keep it short.

In conclusion, it was a stellar time, which makes me want to find an old stocker and someday enter it in the races. I never realized those L88 vettes were that fast...oh hell, I never imaged an Avante or Studabaker were that fast either. Kudos to the AMC vehicles for their impressive runs also.

    BTW, Buick guys....stop redlighting!

I saw that race between Ted Harbit's Stude and the 66 olds.It looked to me like Ted missed a shift and maybe had to restart the car.I don't think he took it easy on purpose.

I'm the "guy" Junior Supercar was talking to for an hour on the phone. My wife could hear him talking to me:) We are going to the race in KC and I hope she gets hooked and our next car is a Pure Stock canidate.

Oh it was an Olds, my mistake. That's what I told my dad, (missed shift) but the coincidence between the two having a problem at relatively the same time seemed odd so I just assumed he had decided to take it easy. :Do No: It was great anyhow.

    Again, a fantastic time.

Quite a coincidence. My 68 Ramrod bogged so bad at the line on the first run that it killed the engine and I had to bump start it to get it going. It then jumped out of 1st gear about half way through it. Thought for sure the trans was gone. Jammed it in third and completed the run....eventually.

All was OK and everything clicked in the second round as the car went the best it has in 3 years with this engine and won that round. Slid the clutch and between that and a little tire spin, the R's stayed up.

Snoozed on the last one. No excuse.

If my car bites like that and doesn't spin or I don't slip the clutch, it bogs horribly and there's no torque to speak of in this small block W31 below 3000 RPM. :bglasses:

This was the best drags I have ever attended. I drive over a 1000 miles to attend this event, and this weekend just reinforced why. We have a great group of people from all over the U S and Canada who attend this event. They really care about one another. When my boss mustang scattered rear end parts all over the burn out box on the first pass, there were people on the phone looking for parts before we even got it pushed out of the way. Thanks to Team Simpson, and two of his team mates Brian and Keith who came to my rescue. Also Dale Waligore who also forgot about his own LS6 chevelle that he was tryng to get into the 12's,Who came to help me. We had my car back together to make a qualifing run before the end of the day. I hope to be able to return the favor someday. Thanks Bob and Dan for all y'all do for our sport!! Keep the Faith, and remember NO GUTS, NO GLORY.

Thanks to Dan,Bob and all the others. This the greatest automotive event of the year:laugh: Also thanks to the Glasgo boy's and Bob and Jeff for helping with the GTO.

Frank, sorry my car wasn't running better(no forth gear)...but the first three gears were fun.Seven hundred and fifty miles(one way) is along way to travel only to break your car...oh well.

I'll be back next year with the Hurst.

Chuck and Charlie,Brad and the rest of RIO racing thanks for the laughs.May God bless all of you.

    153 cars...........amazing

    What a great time! :TU:

That was my 10th continous year racing at the P/S drags, after a decade you get to know quite a few folks, so it's great to see everyone and race!

I think Pete, JJ and BK are 12 continous year veterans. How many others?

Phew.......that would mean Pete's kids were what.....4 and 6? Now they race there!

Thanks to all who make the event happen! :TU:

Maybe I missed it, but I haven't seen this topic addressed yet:

Did anyone certify this year? Kudos to anyone who did!!!

    Noel,
I fully understand your frustration, been there, done that, got the scars. It will make next year's win much sweeter! Trust me on that. I'm bettin' the Glasgows will show you how to run 13 flats before this is over. What did you find wrong?

Brian, you make these events. Win or lose, it's a blast being around you! You got two super neat cars too, nobody else would think to restore those cars. I fact I saw a lot of puzzled  looks from spectators checkin' out both our cars. Makes it fun :TU: :TU:

Thanks Frank. It's fun watching folks check out the cars.

You end up knowing so many people there a person has to carry on two or three conversations at once just to touch base with everyone!

Hey, it was a blast, no? Mucho thanks to the food that people were handing out (kudos to the Halloways for their Southern-fried food and Detwiler's friend who did the pork, although I forgot which one of the bunch was responsible).

And, Rich, thanks for the "subs" or "torpedoes" or whatever you call 'em from where you're from!

This event is still a secret for many out there. They're more than willing to travel 500 miles for the [fill in the blank] Nats but they can't travel to MI for this event? Hell, they should use the Studebaker guys for some inspiration because they're the fish out of water yet they still muscle their way in and show they're just one of the guys. Ya gotta love it!

I feel lucky to be associated with such a nice event.:beer
