Hey good idea with the slope. I want 3 inclosed walls and a rolling gate in the front for access.

I would pour a pad and do posts and beams across the front and back and then use the steel studs and tracks to frame the sides and back wall in between the posts. You could use engineered floor joist or 2x10 or 2x12 for the roof frame because it would be a long single span. Then use that wood you have as siding to enclose the building if you have enough? Doubling up those steel studs and tracks may seam good but they're not strong enough to be used as a beam or roof truss. They're meant for a commercial application like vertical wall framing within a steel structure.

So basically all your after is a glorified car port then I take it?

Why not build yourself a nice shop/garage building with 4 walls that stand at least 8' high, 12'-14' being optimal.

I have seen guys start with smaller garages/shop buildings and add onto them later in life. Just a thought.

I would also look into insulating and sealing the walls and ceiling.

FYI what keeps the cold out, ALSO keeps the hot out!

...used to get cross arms from neighbor who worked for ConTel in '70s. So hard, they would "ring" when dropped on ground. Have some in pole barn framing, can tell by holes for "beehive" insulators (they're that old:eek:). Always coveted his "lineman" clamshell diggers with extra-long handles and different fulcrum position for "telephone-pole-deep" holes:cool:...

Yeah all I'm after are glorified carports. About 4 or 5, something lowkey just for car storage. I'm planning on doing a walk in pit or 2 in a garage set up just for working on cars.

Around here the country dont come poking there head much or even at all since its rural.
