Thank You Bob and Dan, for another fun year at the Pure Stock Races!!!! It was great to see 131 cars come out, even with the bad weather on Friday. Thanx to all my Buick buddies, that helped get me back on the track, after I hurt my left valve train a bit. My best E.T.:13.04, MPH:107.46 :eek2: , 60 ft:1.961 :eek2: . Joe X.

Again, thanks for all of the efforts that Bob and Dan put into this. I am already trying to think of what I would do if this event was not on the calendar!

The second adventure of a lifetime went off without a hitch (almost). My car ran beautiful all the way to Casey's. The car fit in the trailer great and I did not need a trapieze to get out of the car door. The truck ran flawless (as I had hoped, thanks for all of your prep work Case!) and it was great to see all of the faces and catch up with everyone. After the rain stopped, the car ran okay, but I was looking for a way to hook up some better 60's. (I still think that my front to back tire rotation was my monster) The car ran within a hundredth of its best (13.57@102.5 with hidious 2.19 60')

I thought that maybe the car was going to be able to ride back in comfort, but instead it had to make the drive to Chicago as my friends '69 W-30 post car took up residence in the toy box. For those that were not there, things got ugly when the bellhousing broke on the 3-4 shift, tore the tranny from its mounting point, and twisted the driveshaft in half. It was a sight seeing 3 '69 H/O's and a '68 H/O running down the highway. I should have had the camera ready for a curve! We got the cars switched out in Chicago and I made it back home by 2:30 PM yesterday.

I am glad to have made it up again, and I think that it will take weeks to get rid of the smile on my face. I can't wait thill next year! :TU: :beer

Did you even bother checking mileage on the truck Rusty ? Or did you just take out an equity line of credit before you left ??? :)

    Hey Casey,

I just did what you said. When it was empty, I filled it up! The truck was keeping up with traffic on I-70 between St. Louis and KC. Steve can attest that this is not the easiest thing to do. That and a side wind is not the easiest on the gas pump!

well, since the speedo wasn't working, wasn't it getting outstanding mileage

good to hear you made it back safe and sound Rusty. We ended up watching the video that was taken and saw the boom from the 69 W-30 after passing through the traps. You could see half the driveshaft sitting in the track and almost all the track personal didn't realize what had happened. We guess Kurt Karch came within 5-6 feet of running over the driveshaft in his 69 H/O when he made his run. Then they finally cleared the track.

    Yeeeeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaw!

Man, where do I begin! That was fun! This is bar none the best thing going on in the hobby. Spoke with Tom Shaw who put it best when he said this is the single most important weekend on the Musclecar Calendar.

Thanks as always to Dan and Bob for putting on a class event. Foul whether be damned, this collection of gearheads know how to have a good time. Its always great meeting new faces and exchanging the customary barbs with the familiar ones. Pete, JJ, Tom, Mark, Rusty, Casey, Donny ...and all ya'll... thanks for the laughs.

Particular thanks to Angry Brian for putting me in touch with my competitive side. You're a true Sportsman! The new yard stick by which competitors can now be measured is: If you aint yet torn the knob off your shifter, you cant honestly be trying hard enough! (... thank goodness I had a spare)

Congratulations to JJ for being the fourth certified person to break into the 11's (er, Im not sure I got that right?), and all the best to those who likewise set personal bests this weekend. While I may lack the production values of Made for TV Brian, I nonetheless proudly claim cause to edit my signature.

Hope everyone got home safe and sound. Till next time, be well.

Well, an interesting week-end it was. Had a great time, especially all singing happy birthday to Six Pack Bob for his 50th (you can thank me later Bob) at 2 in the morning at the hall. Bob actually signed my kids air cleaner lid of his Monte!!!!
Thanks to all that made my kid feel welcome and gave him lots of encouragement, and to you Benoit for showing him how to do a burnout. I'll be sure to send you the bill for the next set of tires.
Anywayz, thanks Dan and Bob for a really, really, interesting week-end.

The rain wasn't so bad Friday, I was able to use my Windshield wipers to see driving from tech to the trailer and the defroster came in handy too.... :TU:

I used the rain to soften all of the bugs on my car from 740 miles of driving! :pp I told someone how my car ran over the weekend and they were impressed and in the same breath said I should retire the car and search for something else to work on! I still am having too much fun with that car to put it away. Besides, maybe I can save my nickels and dimes and buy a restored car after the bottom drops on this market surge (and then make it go fast!)

Brian, that's funny, I was checking out my wipers too, it was the first time that car had seen rain for 4 years, they actually worked pretty well.

Tried mine, too after Tech. Amazing, they still work! Heater core's toast, so no defrost, though. Winter project.

    WOW! What a weekend

Thanks to Dan and Bob for such a great weekend! Will defineately plan on being there next year. Was great to meet up with old friends and put faces to names I see on here.
First time wasn't without its' problems though. I headed out from here on Thursday with a wounded ditch chicken in the trailer but had some pieces to hopefully put it together (some guys bring spare carbs & distributors, me, I bring spare radiators & fans :Dou:). Made 3 stinky runs but we determined the center carb to possibly be the main problem. Don't think that there is a strong enough vacuumn signal to open the outboard carbs. This was probably the only musclecar ( :Do No: ) running a 2bbl :Dou: out there.
Thank You's go out to the following:
Tom Cannon for all the help and working tirelessly on the 6bbl. I owe you big time.
Steve Hodges for help on the trans and u-joint as well as supplying tools.
    Jeff Peterson for the u-joint.
Bob K. for the help and encouraging words.
Pete Simpson for buying my son Jeff and I breakfast.
rdl for the staging lane "push".
Frank and Karen Remlinger for the food and hospitality. Next year I'll have to bring some of our farm fresh hog.
and to everyone who complimented me on the car. It's been a long road towards getting it where it is today but spending it with a great group like you guys and gals makes it all worth it :beer

Would that make your Olds a "heater delete" car?????

We had a good time at this year's event. Had problems with the GTS on its maiden run after going thru my engine debacle this year. My heater hose blew off the water pump during my first burnout and hosed down the starting line area in the left lane. Then I discovered that only the right 1/2 of my AVS was working. LON wasn't the only one there with a 2 barrel. THANKS to Dave Dudek for the use of his LM-1 from Innovate Products. Pretty neat. We did learn that it would be optimum to have a bung welded in upstream in the exhasut pipe instead of using the tail pipe sensor. Not a good idle mixture reading at the tip.

I think LON should get an award for determination for thrashing on his car the entire weekend and not giving up on it. I used to think that Hodges thrashed hard, but LON's crew was working overtime!! Cool color combo on that 'bird!

Good to see Tom Cannon make it out to a P/S event. He didn't know what to do with all that extra time in the car on the track compared to his 11 sec. T/A. He could read the paper driving that automatic instead of pounding gears!! Good to meet Mike and Spence too! I like when new Ford's show up!!
Anybody get a picture of that white 1970/1971 Falcon with the shaker hood??

Hopefully Rusty will be able to give his H/O a full ride one of these days in his brand spanking new trailer!!

It was nice parking next to Darren and Mark for the second year in a row. Always meeting new people is a bonus of the PSMCDR. Speaking of which, it was nice to spend time with "rdl" in the staging lanes!! Have to get you hooked up with our friends from Newmarket, eh!

Naturally, it was a blast pitting next to Hodges for the weekend. He works way too hard on his cars AT the event. This time he was hanging and trimming his exhaust first thing Saturday!!

It was more hectic than usual with the rain-out on Friday. It was good to talk to Diego again, and to hear his dulcet tones wafting thru the speakers like a gentle fog rising from a lake.

    See you folks next year!
