I appreciate all that Shawn shared in his Built not Bought thread, but, I do not have the time, knowledge, patients, friends to help, on such a rare and special car. I also saw people are wondering if Kleiner is still building. Indeed yes, Dave, Sherry and Tyler are still putting these out. Our goal is to be in BG in September, fingers crossed.

    Wow Troy, love that color!

And there's no shame in having it done by the experts, please take no offense. My "built not bought" theme wasn't a slam against anybody, just an awnry fun little poke at those who like to nitpick imperfect cars and believe me, you could nit pick mine until the cows came home and have plenty left over for another day! But I knew that going in, it would be a decent but amateur job done by decent but amateur folks in a decent but amateur facility, despite any pride I took in doing it myself. I will say that without a doubt, you will get nicer more professional results going the route you're going compared to what I did. Much like you say you lack the resources to do it yourself, I lacked the funds to have someone else do it. I had no real choice in the matter, either I did it or it didnt get done. If I were to ever undertake another resto, I very much would like to farm certain aspects out to those who are much more knowledgeable and skilled than I, but until my money tree sprouts that is not a possibility for me unfortunately.

I look forward to future updates on this car, it looks like its going to be a beautiful piece once completed!

Dittos Shawn, I too didn't mean anything offensive by referencing your original post! I admired what you were willing to take on. But, it also helped me decide to continue to go this route and avoid all the hard work you did. I am doing some things myself when I get it back, because I do want to feel like I did something on my own. But, I know where to draw the line for my abilities.

I am falling more and more in love with the color each time Dave sends me pictures. Not many originally produced in Cascade Blue. Mine also has Pearl White bucket seats, Pwr drivers seat, Pwr windows, tilt, A/C, 4-speed.

Thanks for posting on my thread! I was concerned at first I would come off the wrong way!
When I bring it to Cincinnati for our Car Show at work, or the show at all Feirher's, I'll be sure and let you know.

How about some before pix. And maybe some back story on how you found and acquired it.

I will post some before pics that is a good idea. My profile pic is a before.
I was contacted by James Weinman after he saw I had interest in a different car forsale. So it came from Texas to Indiana about 2-1/2 years ago

The car came out of Dallas after the owner passed away unexpectedly. He had it for many, many years and drag raced it with a Doug Nash 5 speed. Thank goodness he saved the original Muncie transmission. It is a very solid, rust free car and ended up in the perfect hands of Troy and is getting the care it deserves by Dave Kleiner.

I believe I knew the the previous owner( thats him standing at the drivers door. ). Here is a pic when it had the Doug Nash Five speed. That guy didn't get rid of anything so you know anything he took off the car was there somewhere. I am sure Keith would be proud of your getting it "done up right".
Ill look for some more pix. I know I saw it run at Bowling Green with the five speed.

    Rich,

Do you know if Keith ever had the original Stage 1 engine, or was it gone when he bought the car? The car was in a thousand pieces, and he had several motors also all in pieces, but the original block, heads, carb, distributor were nowhere to be found.

Ill get hold of Stan Davis and Terry Bunton and maybe Dean Plunk(racerx88) and ask. He had several cars. There was a burnished saddle one too. He was more of a racer than a restorer type.

I just read the sig, so I'm guessing this is getting the 470.That is perfect as Keith talked of doing up an engine with bbc rods and such. I'm sure he would approve.

I sent out a text asking about the engine with a link to this thread maybe one or more can shed light on the engine conundrum.
