    Kimson,
sounds like great news! Keep us updated. I just passed on a '72 Sunroof Riviera in Iowa. An expensive project car just to have a sunroof equipped Riviera. One more car is on my list to check out before I begin looking again. Goodluck! :beer

Are you telling me that in the state of California, you have to pay for registration for any time the car was taken off the road????

Like if I owned a '71 Riv in '71 and took it off the road in '80, then put it back on the road now I'd owe back registration for 27 years?????

I believe you would, if you didn't file for non-operational status on the title.

You'd get the renewal bill every year, if you just toss it, yeah, they'll get you. All you have to do is let the DMV know when you take it off the road.

Had the vin checked at the dmv, the car is in non-op mode, meaning the back registration wouldn't be too bad. Still considering this one, I just have to see how much a complete weatherstripping deal and fixing the interior would be.

Weatherstripping gets expensive pretty quickly. Be ready to spend $300 or more just for door and window frame rubber. Trunk rubber isn't must more, though.

Interior - what is bad in it? Headliner? Seats? dash?

    There is no headliner.
The dash is cracked in several places.
Here's a picture of the front seat. The back seat looks pretty similar on the top part of the back cushion. The package tray also has some holes in it. The carpet has a big hole in it where the driver sits.

Hey Kimson, buy this board member's 455 Regal and help him out. It is a steal at this price. I'd say the engine is worth $2k by itself. It would be cool if the funds collected ended up with someone from the V8 board, in the military, serving our country. And you get a hell of a nice Buick.

The most recent was a call on a 66 Riv GS.. Needs paint and some other stuff, I might go and take a look at it on Saturday, we'll see. I'll probably hold off a bit longer to get some more money in. I want to come back in the right way, and not dig myslef a hole, just because I'm itching for a new ride. Otherwise, it looks like I might make it out to SEMA through the company I work for, so I'm looking forward to that. There has also been a 71 Riv up on the Vegas Craigslist a few times that I might give a call if I go out there, just a long shot. I also have a bunch of rallye rims I want to sell so I can get some more cash in for the car, I just haven't gotten around to dealing with that. A set of 15*7 4.75's rallyes have been laying here in the living room for a good month now, all cleaned up, painted, and ready to go.

That Regal is way cool, but it's not the kind of car I had planned for. I want to stick with the full size battle ships, unless some other car comes along that is the "right" one.

Howdy,, just wanted to let everyone know that I'm window shopping every day on the net, researching, and looking for my "back from the grave" ride. I'm working extra during the weekends doing bartending so I can get some extra funds in, and hopefully in a month or two we should be able to seriously try to get back in the game. I haven't touched a wrench or any of the stuff I have laying around which should go off to ebay. It just feels like I don't want to deal with it yet.

Well, I have two or three more people to squeeze in there, and some day soon I'll do it. I really appreciate what all you guys have done for me.

Sent an email on a 69 Riv, but the price does not seem to be in my league. I'll keep my searchlight on.
