Did anybody hear what Glenn Beck said about the anti-Christ last night on CNN?

Just food for thought for all you evolution guys:

Since building those super telescopes in the early to mid 1800's astronomers and astrophysicists have observed that the sun has shrinks 5 feet/year since 1832 when the first one became operational. It shrinks that 5 feet every year because it is burning off its fuel and turning matter into energy (400 million-million horsepower every day). Going back in time just 50,000-60,000 years the sun would have fried the earth with it size and proximity. Care to take it back 1,000,000 years?

    That is observed fact.

On the fourth day, God apparently set the heavenly bodies in motion.

Hey wait a minute. How could there be any "days" (such as the "first" one in when he made a light source turn on and off) before the fourth day, when we know the sun always is on, and days are defined by one planet's rotation on its axis (i.e., its motion) and he did not make this happen until the fourth "day"? :error:

It rained the other day here. Some water rose to an inch on my patio. After the rain stopped, the water receded at a rate of one inch a minute. At that rate, the water was a 120 feet high the day before. All kinds of things are happening in the sun, there are periods of flare-ups, spots etc. How are you so certain there is not something happening with a frequency of many years (currently observed on the down-side with decreasing amplitude every period)? I don't know, ask an astrophysicist. I'm sure he would have a reason or theory. One thing for certain, it will burn out one "day" millions of years from now and everything here will die.

Just some thoughts, not a sermon.

I didn't say the concept of god seems "silly" I said that did not seem logical. I don't believe there is life after death. I don't believe humans are any more special than any of the other animals on the earth. I do believe humans are the only species on earth capable of imagining the concept of a God. Humans have worshiped countless Gods through the ages of time. Apparently they were all wrong and you are right. Sometime after you and I are dead and gone, there will likely be other Gods or concepts to take the place of the current God. And life will go on.

Humans are the only animals capable of pondering life after death as far as we know. Does that make us the only animal capable of going on??? Why are we so special? No one knows if there is anything after death, it's all speculution. Humans have occupied this planet for thousands of years before there was a concept of God. If God created these people was he just sending then straight to hell because they weren't worshiping him yet, and didn't have the mental capacity?? What about the mentally challenged humans that don't have the capacity to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior?

I believe that in one of the MULTITUDES of other galaxys there is likely some form of life. Maybe some form like our own. The universe is a big place.

I plan to live life to its' fullest and when I die, I'll be just that "dead as dirt".

I need to correct something I said in my prior post. It struck me later on. Buddist and Hindu believe in reincarnation so they don't expect to go to heaven. I was mixing up my own beliefs with theirs. Buddists believe if you're good you come back as another person with a chance to better yourself, if you're bad you go backwards back into the animal kindgdom based on what you did. The Hindus seem to revere certain animals like cattle as reincarnations of good people from a former life, and I'll be truthful, I don't know what the rules are for reincarnation. Except to say this...

If they come back as a human and a Jew, Christian, or Muslem they'll only got one more shot left at it based on those religions. As far as they're concerned this is our last shot at life and we either are eternally happy or miserable forever after.

As for the Islamics that think they'll be met by 19 virgins in the afterlife if they die a martyr.... So they strap a bomb to their chest and walk onto a bus or into a restaraunt in Israel and blow themselves and other innocent people to kingom come... I have this hope that the 19 virgins they meet will be unattractive and bitchy and hopefully make them miserable. That's what they deserve. 19 women nagging them for eternity.

You want to know who the anti-christ is? I'll tell you! He/she is all about us, and takes on many forms, sometimes simultaneously. Sometimes it goes away for a while and thereafter makes a "comback":

Barry Manilow, Ronald McDonald, Boy George, Rosie O'Donnell, and the Eagles (mainly, glenn frye).

I'm not telling you my age or weight, but lets say I'm 25 and weigh 150 pounds. Lets also say it is an observed fact that I have gained 2 pounds a year for the past 5 years.

Was I close to 200 pounds when I was born?

Actually, one big deal about that is the language and dates of the scrolls - of course, some of the detractors of science may conveniently overlook how the scrolls were dated and such.

There is debate, however, of whether these scrolls related to the early Christian movement, or one of the groups disparaged by in the Bible.

Anyway, there were old-testament writings in the Kumran scrolls. Aside from the importance of the language, it is yet another piece of the evolution of the books. One example is Isiah. There are many old copies of Isiah that have been recovered - all from different times in the past. It is very interesting to see the differences and similarities in each text, as well as who had them and where they were found.

There are now many English translations of the scrolls, as well as books about the discovery and process (though there is one by Allegro you might want to skip... unless you like mushrooms).

Remember, just because there are facts involved, it doesn't necessarily mean what we want or think it means - this is true for both religion and science.

This is why a more thorough understanding of a subject is required before we agree with something we've been told in either religion of science.

Regardless of whether we live in a perfect creation or a universe that evolved - we are human, imperfect, and fallible.

So long as we focus on each other's differences and misgivings, we grow apart and cause problems. The last I checked, both religion and science agree on this point.

    Mister T Just truckin' around

I'm going to wade into this (against my better judgement:grin: ) and challenge you to prove with factual evidence that what you say is, in fact true. We still know so little about old Sol, and from what I remember of my high school science classes, it converts hydrogen into helium during the fusion process. Thus, Sol converts one form of matter into another form of matter, releasing energy during the process.

It has been speculated that in several million years, Sol will actuallygrow into a red giant, then shrink to a white dwarf, but remember, that is speculation, based on today's science.

One final thought from me, there is absolutely no way that I will consider changing my belief in evolution based upon whatever anyone tries to tell me. I have read some rather preposterous suppositions in this thread, based solely on conjecture, and having little to no factual basis.

I've wasted far too much tim in my life listening to onesided discussions from so called "religious ranters", but when I try to present my side, suddenly they have no time to listen to what I have to say. That really and truly pisses me off. If that isn't an attempt at brainwashing, then I'm a dinosaur. (well maybe to some, I already am)

I'm not going to re-enter this thread, so believe in whatever you wish to believe in, but leave me out of it. I'll live my life on my own terms, and that's the bottom line.

    Good day.

I had to endure two years sharing an office with someone who repeated this mantra. Her only friend there, Evelyn (we called her Evil-lyn), said even good Catholics like my mom are all going to hell (well, my mom was dead at the time so she is in hell now). What drives otherwise seemingly reasonable people to have such mean outlook of life?

I can imagine them thinking or conversing with one another: "he's going to hell, so is he, she is too!, good, serves them right!"

Personally, I've always found the "elephant head on the man's body" religion fascinating. I may convert so I can go to their heaven. They are much nicer people!

Best regards and I'll see you in hell,

    John

The Islamics that want to kill people are violating one of the ten commandments they should still believe in from the Old Testament. I don't think it was Mohammad's intent to modify the ten commandments, and suspect he'd be shocked to see what has gone so terribly wrong.

then you've spent far too much time listening to the lies the Muslims want to tell you and not nearly enough time actually studying the historical acts of Mohammad. he put entire cities to the sword.

the primary difference between Mohammad and a modern day suicide bomber is that Mohammad wasn't actually willing to die in order to get to his 6 year old virgin ( heavily annotated but very poor spelling ).

you've constructed your linear progression backwards. according to the terms of your story problem, you are 10 lbs lighter for every 5 years younger ( -50lbs @ -25 years) which puts you at a birth weight of 100lbs.

pointing out the non-linear nature of many natural processes is not a bad thing to be doing but i don't think you've done yourself any favors here.

This so called mantra, is the truth stated as simply as possible. It is hopeful that the unbeliever can glean something from this statement. Using other excuses will not make God go away. You will stand before Him one day. Be thankful you have some good honest Buick guys here who care enough to share their hearts. God will not listen to, "give me another chance", on the day you must face him. Remember those people who tried to help you, that was your chance. That will be a sad day my friend.

Big thanks to you Buick guys for "enlightening" me. Now I see that the church, from where you all devolved, was right to persecute poor Galileo. Now I see the hogwash in it all. We never sent vehicles to the moon, Jupiter and beyond. The world is indeed flat, and filled with flat brains.

Considering the concept of hell, I'd rather go to there and meet with most of the thinkers, all of my extended family and friends, and all the artisans that make life enjoyable. Hell, you can have your heaven, along with the talibon and al-qaeda kooks, which you have more in common with than you realize.

Oh, satan visited me last night and asked me to extend his thanks to "Topcat" for the 22,000 plus souls visiting his Buicks and Bikinis thread. LOLOLOLOL.

Signing off for good here and see all of you in hell :moonu:,

Kerry s. Is Jesus YOUR Lord?

Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Proverbs 18:2 A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.

Proverbs 19:3 The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Proverbs 28:26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

Proverbs 3:13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Proverbs 1:5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

Proverbs 15:32 He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.

Here's a verse specifically tailored to those who wish mock and make light of a "road trip" to hell....

Mark 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.

As far as "religion".....Religion is ANY belief one holds unto one's self whether it be Christianity, Judisim, Islam, Budda, Hindu or any other including ATHEISIM, witchcraft and YES....even SCIENCE is a religion to many!!!:Smarty:

FACTS....there is ONE TRUE GOD...ALL others are false gods. ANY religion who fails to p[oint to the one true GOD (BTW...."ALLAH" means Moon god ever notice the crestent moon on their flags? Their god IS NOT the GOD of the Jews and Christians.). The one true GOD sent His son Jesus Christ. Jesus was GOD in human form, so therefore GOD has reveled Himself to men in the flesh and STILL people did not believe in him. John 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. Therefore my friends, proof has been give and goes to show that those who choose not to believe will not believe no matter what is shown to them even if it's by GOD Himself!

Remember this and don't deceive yourself ...one choses to choose or chooses not to choose...but either direction is still a choice and WILL ultimately determine where one WILL spend eternity!:TU:

Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

Isaiah 55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

    Proverbs 1:27-29
27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

    BUT....
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Romans 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Matthew 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

1 John 4:15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

    So...
    Romans 10:8-10
    8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

    1 John 1:8-10
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

But also be aware of this...
Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

    Romans 14:10-12
10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

A final note....HELL is an ETERNAL SEPARATION FROM GOD AND HIS LOVE AND MERCY....be VERY careful want you wish for, it can (AND WILL in this case) last an eternity...

The LORD wishes than none perish in hell but he will not force Himself upon ANYONE.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
