57 olds... one of the more beautiful cars... and the white/black trim was a very cool paint scheme.

My dad drove a late 50's Ford pickup and my mom drove an early 60's Corvair. Later, my grandpa bought a brand new Camaro, '67, I believe.

    eric:
i remember the 57 olds . we hated the rear multi-window design .
my uncle purchased a new 1957 olds super 88 convertible (ragtop also because he disliked the rear window treatment) . car was black with white top & red interior . super gorgeous & fast !

The first car that I remember was Dads 1956 Olds. Four door, two tone green. Don't know what model. Next was a 1962 Thunderbird. Cool car, he had it for about 12 years, it was going to be my first car but it caught fire on dads way home from work one night. Mom had a '65 Pontiac Tempest I took my drivers test in that car. Then she had a '74 Nova. After that Impala wagons and such. Out of the whole family (my parents and seven kids)I'm the only one to ever own Buicks!

I love tri-5 BOP's... too bad we never had anything that cool

My mom had some classics before I was born, though.

'67 Beetle rag top (not convertable, the one with the giant cloth sunroof)

    '67 Cougar XR7 (289/4spd)

'72 Cougar (fell apart, dad forced her to trade the XR7 for it)

'72 Grand Prix (hers was copper, dads was yellow/black vinyl top)

    '68 Bronco

A couple random mid 70's Ford Pickups

82 Delta 98 (dad has it, won't even sell it to me)

83 Delta 88 (car I grew up with until about 5y/o as I stated in my first post)

83 Bronco II (dad has it, uses it to plow)

I'll see if I can find any pictures of her cars... scan 'em and put 'em up if I do...

    Hi All,
Dick, what Gerry said. No , I rarely see any late 50's early60 Mopar anything around here. Even at the cruise nights they are few and far between. There is a guy with a 58 Fury , like CHRISTINE, but with a 392 Hemi in it. and a guy with a beautiful
    59? Chrysler 300, both U.S. cars.
I really like Canadian Pontiacs, had a 66 Parisienne 2 door, the owners manual had the 425 Hp 427 listed as an option:eek2:
That would be a fun car.

I was born in january 1977 and back then my parents had just sold their 9 months old 1976 Century Custom with bucket seats to my uncle who kept it until 1983. Then they had a new 77 Grand Prix (I barely remember it because they sold it in 78!) Then they had a 78 Bronco and a used Pinto that was given to them by another uncle.
Then they went to economy cars and had many Volkswagen diesels :Dou:. A 1980 Rabbit, 1984 Jetta, 1987 Jetta. Starting in 1987 they had a used second car: 1982 Toyota Tercel a 1984 Chevette 1986 and 1991 Jetta GL turbo diesel ... Both my parents still have Volkswagens! My father has a 2002 Jetta GLS TDI and my mother still has a 1989 Jetta Wolfberg that she got new.
It's no surprise that I got interested in Buicks very young after being transported in all those econoboxes!
I have friends that now prefer small cars while their parents always had big cars!

AH, I remember like it was yesterday.
I was born in 1958. Starting with........
    1955 Buick Century
    1958 Chevy Delray
    1959 Buick LeSabre Wagon
    1957 Olds 88
    1964 Chevy Impala SS
    1968 Buick Skylark Custom ( 4 door)
    1973 Buick Century
    1977 Pontiac Sunfire

Dad died right after he bought the 68 Skylark. My Mom wound up with 2 cars, the Skylark and the 64 SS. The SS has to go(too bad)
After the Skylark died, my Mom was in out out of several others. Today she has a 98 Taurus. (nice ride):Dou:

1967 Buick Wildcat 4-dr (white w/black vinyl top)
    1976 Pontiac Laurentian s/w (blue)
    1980 Buick LeSabre (white w/blue vinyl - 350 car)

Those are the cars growing up. The coral '56 and the '67 were my dad's favorites and he still regrets unloading them. Sacrificed for a growing family... the 430 in my Electra however, brings back a lot of memories for him :Brow:

I'm a 3rd gen. GM owner! Only Fords, Chryslers that I've owned were GIVEN to me, and I GAVE them away, too (to the junkyard, when they were dead).

Grandpa and Dad were into Pontiacs from the mid 60's (before me). The first car that I "remember" dad having was a '65 GTO, 389 TriPower (Red). After "me", we got "Family" cars, and the next one was a '70 Pontiac Catalina 400!:eek2::TU:

I also remember a '69 Impala, a '70 (something) Cadillac Convertible, Mid and Late '70s Chevy Trucks, '80's Impalas.

I was the First BUICK owner, and have been since High School. Now, to pass the GM torch to the kids...:TU:

'71buickg.s. a dark and stormy night..

When i was little, we lived in Waukesha Wisconsin and had a big blue 1979 f150 4x4, and a 1987 cavalier, the cavalier was a company car that my dad traded for an 89 cutlass ciera. Then he bought the cutlass from the company and got a 1991 plymouth van. We moved to Ohio with the cutlass and the van in 1993. Sold the cutlass in '94 and bought a new 1994 explorer. About a month later he traded the van for a 1994 intrepid. Marty got laid off in 95 and lost the company car. In '97 he bought a '93 lumina, we traded the explorer in for a '95 Eddie Bauer edition f150. This is where it gets iffy, none of us can seem to remember when we got it but we had an 86 le sabre that didnt like us at all. We had it for a few months and sold it to get a 93 Bonneville. In 2000, we sold the f150, and bought our 1996 suburban which we still have.
In say, 2001 we got a '94 ranger splash that some kid put svt emblems on.Then in 2002 we sold the caddy for a muscle car, we sold the bonneville for a '91 camaro RS convertible for my mom, then bought the '71 GS455 clone convertible. So to recap, we had a camaro, a ranger, a suburban and a gs clone. In march of 2003 i convinced marty to buy a gn. We settled for a WE-4 that was cloned into a gn and sold the ranger. We moved to Texas in December and brought the camaro and suburban and WE4 with us, the gs clone has been in tennessee. We sold the WE4 a few months ago but not before buying an 85 gn and a 70 skylark.
In case anybody is confused, we now have, in order of purchase:
    1996 GMC suburban
    1991 Chev camaro
1971 Skylark custom convertible cloned into GS455
    1970 Skylark custom 350-2
1985 GN with an '87 motor

    sorry thats so confusing!

There really aren't any hot rods or fancy cars (our family didn't have much when I was young) amongst the cars my parents owned after I was born
    Mom:
-2 late 70's Grand Ams (Junkers, ma once accidentially locked me in one of the cars in the middle of winter while warming it up, oops)
-1986 Cutlass Ciera (Good little car, sister inherited it)
-1991 Bravada (Parents first truely "Nice Car", Big Cozy)
-1995 Yukon (Ma is still driving it, 130k, starting to show its age)
    Dad:
-Late 70's Chevy truck (Dad inherited from his dad, he liked it but ma had a bad driving record at the time so they had to sell it)
-1989 Chevy Quad Cab Truck (Dads work truck, once crushed all my matchbox cars in the driveway on accident with it, rusted, dented, beaten, 270k, still runs strong)
-1992 Ford Quad Cab Truck (Dads newer work truck, never got rid of the 89, still uses it 170k, going the way of the other truck, I remember the first time in it soon after he bought it and he floored it to get on the interstate, that 460 was full a guts then, seems to struggle up to speed now a days)
-2000ish Ford Diesel Quad Cab (new work rig, big, powerful, nice)
-1993 Chevy Silverado (Nice truck a little warn out though)

Man wish I couldda had some of the cars he had when he was young, 74 Firebird Formula, 57 Fairlane 500, 71 Monte Carlo and a couple of other cool cars he had)

    cars I remember

I was brought home from the hospital in a blue 46 Roadmaster, then there was a green 51 Special 4 door, 40 Chev coupe work car at the same time. 51 Special was traded in on a new 55 two tone blue Special 4 door. 40 Chev died and work car became a 53 Chev wagon. Chev wagon traded in on a two tone blue 56 Century wagon. 56 traded in on a Pink and white 58 Special estate wagon, first car Dad ever had with dual ehaust, he put pacemaker glass packs on it and I was in hog heaven. Next came a 63 Wildcat , thats when I became the owner of the 55 Special, I took my drivers licence test in that Wildcat, man could it lay down the rubber! Neighbor kid ratted me out so i didn't drive it much after that. Then came a 65 Sport wagon. The 63 got traded for a dark blue 66 Lesabre which got totaled and replaced with a white with black top 66 wildcat. The 66 got traded in on a new 70 Electra, it then was traded in on a new 72 Electra, all the while the 65 wagon still used as a second car. That puts me up to age 21 so I will stop there. My Dad loved Buicks til the day he died and so will I! Thanks for making me remember all these great cars. My kids will have a long list of Buicks to remember that there old man drove, and I hope there memories are as happy as mine. Mike
