Jim, ironically a few weeks ago I made my re-debut at the track after 17 years too. I didn't fare nearly as well, with awful 60' times of high 1.8's and running out of fuel on the top end -- 12 teens @ 114. Tell me again about your fuel system set-up. BTW, what was your worst time of the day? Again, congrats!
Bob, the worst pass was my first.....a shakedown, drum brake car, lots of unknowns. Car went 12.44 @ 113 letting off around the 1000' mark (guessing), 60' was 2.16. I was spinning as well, as I didn't heat up the Hoosiers. Just wanted to feel the car out. All the rest of the passes were within .10 of my best. The slowest being an 11.43 @ 119.09. My fuel system is a sumped stock tank, Mallory 140 pump and filter, 8an line to regulator 8an return line to tank. No mechanical pump.
I had the same 140 pump in my car great pump. I think with alittle tweeking i think you'll hit high 10s..
You may be right Eric, I hoperay: As I've noticed alot of guys on here running high 10's with around the same mph. Lots of tuning left to do in this car for sure.
I would like to be where you are ET wise and MPH But i have to upgrade to better heads and more compression. (Some Day)
121 mpg is definately enough to go 10's gotta somehow lower that 60 time a lil bit and you're there get that thing in the 1.5's and ull be knocking on the door.
Cayuga I heard the track is really sticky I have a Mustang buddy who went there this year too. I went to Shannonville first time with my convertible did a 12.19 @112
Yes Shawn, I'll definitely work on getting the 60' down. I was talking to a race guy up this way today, and he was asking me how I was leaving the line. Was I loading the car up at the line or just stabbing it from an idle. I told him for most of the passes I just stabbed it and only once or twice I loaded it slightly...maybe 1500rpm or so. He said to load the converter up as much as you can without moving the car of course. Does this sound right to you guys? I took the car out tonight to see how much I could load it up and it will slip up to at least 2500rpm. I thought stabbing it from just off idle would be best, sorta like flashing the converter.
Great times Jim, I can only hope my car gets even close to those times. I will be taking mine out within the next month, swapping the tranny, lifters, and waiting for a cool down first. Congrats on a great time at the track! :TU: Steve
Jim, Were you running an air filter and exhaust? If so, what type. I can't believe that you can stab it full throttle at the line. I think I need slicks or to heat up my MT drags radials better or something. Non-adjustable HR uppers and lowers, eh? I am very jealous how well you did your first time out!
Load up the convertor! That will improve your reaction time and put the motor closer into its power band, your not making any horsepower/torque at idle. :3gears: :3gears:
Bob, Yes I was running an air filter (K&N) and full exhaust 3" Suspension is stock, original front and rear springs. HR non adjustable arms, pinion angle is -2*. No air bag or sway bar. Car leaves dead level. Bob, are you spinning from the line? Could be track prep, but yes I can hammer it and I don't believe I'm spinning at all. If I am it's minimal.
How much gas was in your tank? At my first time back at the track last year I was running out of fuel at the top of third gear. Had an 1/8 tank. On advice from Jim Rodgers I went and filled to 1/2 tank, came back and problem solved.
I've got video of the car... LOTS that a friend shot, he put it on a cd for me but I don't know how to get it off the cd and load it on here. Not to handy with the computer.:spank: I also shot a pass from in the car, with my digital.
