Jim id try leaveing at idle, then 1000 rpm then go up 500 rpm each time till the car moves and see what your converter likes, they all work differently. My 69 had a TCI 10" and it like to be launched from very low rpms. Again they're all different you have to try your combo out at the track.

Shawn, I think 6 of the 7 passes I made that day were all off idle. It's funny the one pass I made where I did load the converter was my best (1.64 60')
I barely loaded it at all. Leaves me to be somewhat optimistic on loading it up for sure.

Hi Jim.When we ran the hoosier street tires years ago, we had the best luck with 18 lbs.Our combo that we ran years ago sounds real close to yours..The best we ever ran years ago was 11.13 at 119 , so i think you are pretty close. Our best 60 foot was 1.62 on the quick times, but we were 3830.(lighter than you).I know every combo is diff, but we have had the best luck leaving at 1000 to 1200 rpms.Even with the current stage 2 .Have you ever messed with your squirters and accelerator pump. There is et to be gained with squirters etc, although you will have to test that.We also used to retard the timing 4 degrees when we shifted into high gear, and picked up about .06 and almost a mile an hour roughly .(i know every combo is different).Try running a ram air (two hoses run from under the bumper to sealed air cleaner.Always picked up around tenth and a 1 mph on 3 different cars.Just tossing out a few ideas to ya.Sounds like a neat car.Keep us posted on your progress.Good luck :TU:

Hi Jim.I just noticed ya had a video of your run. When i watched it i got the goose bumps.LOL.Thats exactly what it looked like in all the years we ran.Tach hose clamped , or wire tied to the steering column, and shifting with the column shifter between the thumb and fingers. That video brings back alot of great memories. My old car(72) hasnt raced or been driven since 1996, but its still exactly that same way, and the last pass was a 11.13 119 in 1996 before i parked it.Sorry about the rambling, but that video brought back some great memories.

All i have to say is Bad A$$...I agree on Jim about loading up on to the converter I think it creates to much heat though the transmission..I used to leave at 1800 on the two step, Man whata launch !!

If I put it right on the mat, traction is poor. In your video, I was surprised on how straight your car stays during your burnout. I don't know how I can get the front wheels off the ground and still have horrible 60' times (1.83 or 1.84 was my best). Maybe I'm subconsciously lifting a bit anticpating spinning or what?? :Do No: I obviously need more track time. I had SSM lower control arms, stock original uppers w/ original bushings and 2 air bags. Maybe air bag bounce and traction loss??

Mike, I had just over 1/2 tank. I had a stock Stage 1 fuel pump fed by a Mallory 110 pump, through the stock 3/8 lines. Years ago, I soldered in a new 3/8" pick-up tube in the sender, sweeping toward the rear. I have just updated to JW's billet mechanical pump and plumbing to the carb, eliminated both the Stage 1 and Mallory pumps and fuel filter. I also ran a new 3/8" line from the tank to the small hose under the LH frame, to eliminate the many sharp factory bends near the rear.

Sorry to hijack. I think I need my own "help" thread!

Hey Tom, thanks for the reply and input.:TU: That's funny cause I had about 17lbs in the Hoosiers for last 5 passes. Seemed to work well.
I'll have to experiment with this converter and see what works best.
The only thing I changed on the carb was the jets. The plugs looked bone white, so being afraid of getting on the lean side I went up from 84's square to 89. I haven't touched the pump cams. The front squirter is a 31, 30cc pump with the pink cam. Rear is a 36 squirter 50cc pump and the brown cam.
Was thinking a brown cam in the front with a 50cc pump and 35 squirter for starters.
http://s214.photobucket Here a quick vid of it leaving. Front seems to extend alot but not sure if wheels are up or not. Am I wasting 60' time with all that travel? Car stays fairly level though.

Anyone running a 50cc accelator pump on there Holley HP with an SP-1 intake? If so, do you require a spacer in there. Was looking at mine and there looks to be enough room. Also did it make any difference in your 60'?
I changed my front squirter from a 31 to a 35 and the car feels alot more responsive (street only) I think I'm going in the right direction.

Thanks Eric....did you have any clearance problems with the 50cc pump to your intake?

Thats a good question because a ran a 1 inch 4 hole spacer so there was no clearance issues..The 4 hole space gave me more bottom end torque too.with out the spacer..Ill say that it was close to the manifold but i dont think it touched it..
