Twas the day before New Year in Smithfield N.C. The Hangar was clean and the lift was in gear. I saw a Bright yellow Buick GSX sitting nearby Had Stage One engine -- That caught my eye. But what to my wondering eyes did appear-- There was a hog leg in the floor-- a 4 gear!! Well this is the Baddest Buick I've seen Tell us my friend where has it been. The Doctor :beer
Well my lovely wife knows I have been in the GSX DTs since we sent ours to another great home with a Board member here. Sooo it is my birthday in a few days and she thought this little piece of paper and the pro- tec-to plate may cheer me up a bit. I'm cheered. 49K original miles. What a nice early B day present from the wife. The cars has a fascinating HX and is hetetofore unknown, I think, to the Buick community. But talking about your car is kinda like showing your baby pictures or vacation movies to another person. Not quite the same to them.
Well, Mr. Lore, I think we need to see MORE pictures!!! Does your wife have a younger sister???? :Brow:
Yes many tall Dutch sisters (5'9" and up) that peer down on the tops of the heads of all but the taller men. One was Miss Coke a Cola. (And if you are taller they put you in a head lock until you are shorter.) Ask Buicklawyer. Before she got a hold of him he was 6' 2" but now only 5' 6". As for pics what interests you, before the frame off , during the frame off or after the frame off. Perhaps while it was used as a daily commuter to a steel mill? (Must have been one darn fast commute) or while it belonged to the son of the Buick Dealer who sold it ? It was the dealership demonstrator. ( Must have really scared 'em or sold 'em)
Tonight will scan some in. Will take some time. How about a pic of the pass to the parking deck of the steel mill still attached to the rear view mirror since the 70s?
Yeah, enough of this teasing bit you're feeding us!! :Brow: We want pics, a story and whatever else you have!! Boy, you hold your cards CLOSE to your vest, huh??? uzzled:
If it was any good, he'd post pictures. I guess it's not very good................................o No:
The X from Lizard Lick Sorry guys. I have been out and just got back. Left the computer on. Have not scanned but will start in a bit. As for the story, the car was made of course at Flint in the first week of April. The real King Kong 70 QQ, 4 speed stage 1, no AC, 3.64 rear gear but with power windows etc. The Penn Buick dealer that got it let his son drive it without retitling until Feb 26, 1971, at which time it was sold to a local lady who along with her husband worked in a steel mill. She and her husband commuted to work and parked it in the mill lot. Supposedly she liked to run other cars light to light but I have to interview her about this. In about 1978 it was retired in the couples yard for the offense of being a "gasss hawg". In 1981 Brian, a 19 year old teenager, saw the car in the trees while driving by. He did not know what it was but the color caught his eye. The next day he went back to the house knocked on the door and asked if it was for sale. $800.00 dollars later he owned the car! ......( to be continued in a bit after some scans)
He is holding out on you guys. When he called and told me about the car, he would only tell me it was less than 20 miles from his house. He would not tell me the owners name. Some friend , huh?
