well maybe people in this country will finally wake up to the fact that you cant go driving giant suvs, stupid dumbass hummers,F150's and the like forever. This is incredibly hypocritical of me given my car but I bought it because gas here is so CHEAP compared to the UK (around $5.50). Of course I dont like paying lots for gas but really the $5 mark probably begins to reflect the true cost of gas (its environmental impact and the fact that it is such a very finite resource).
Sorry america you are going to have to wake up one day. No good burying your head in the sand.. the 1950's and 60's were 40-50 years ago and those days are long gone! Classic cars like ours are a real luxury and gas should be no exception.
You had better start buying some human sized cars that are actually designed for normal humans rather than elephants...

Flame me if you will but its the truth :)

It's one thing to cost that amount if the additional $3 or so went to the environment, but it's going into someone's pocket (who is probably driving the cars that you mentioned).

The way it has spiraled up so quickly can't reflect the actual rises in costs per barrel.

Could you imagine if other items fluxuated as much on a daily basis? Your milk could cost $1.99 gallon one morning, but waiting to pick it up after work added $.10, and going the next day added another $.05. Then the next it dropped $.03, etc...???

Like I said, I pay what they put on the sign because I need gas.

thanks for the lecture, dad:rolleyes:  you are right about the people who, for the last couple of years have been lulled into a sense of ignorance over the price of gas and the so-called 'sense of security' and 'need for extra room' that suvs and full sized vehicles give some people. but frankly most of these people could do just as well with a more efficient car. as for most car enthusiests, we as a group tend to take better care of our toys [that is, keep them tuned and running smoothly and efficiently], and also usually have a newer, more fuel efficient car for daily use anyway. so you cant blame us :moonu: soo...anybody taking bets on how soon $3.00 a gallon gets here?:ball:

There's more than enough oil. It's those damn members of OPEC playing games. If we flood our market with reserves it'll make the overseas refineries lower there prices so they can stay in the market. For how much the US is paying for the reconstruction of Iraq, we should lay our claim for their oil.

Why do some people think their is a shortage of oil? If their was we would lower the speed limit back to 55 and have gas rationing. This isn't the case, it's those damn greedy arabs doing all of this. This is what we get after saving their a$$es.

I kept hearing that the Iraqis were saying that we were stealing their oil... it definitely doesn't show that at the pump.

    current exchange

    Doug,
It seems that the canadian dollar is worth more in BC than in Quebec. If I send you 3710 CAN$ could you exchange it to me? I'd take 4000$ US, the rest (1190$) US would be for you:Brow:

Pricing in HOUSTON is in the area of $1.74 for 87, and up to $2.09 for 93. Diesel is $1.49-1.69.
Shell, Exxon, Amoco/BP, ALL have their Major Refineries W/I 20 Miles of my house, and Chevron/Texaco, Shell, Citgo BP, and others have Main offices here, but it doesn't matter.
HIGHEST Shell Station used to be right out side Refinery Gate!!!!!!
I got cheaper Gas in Ohio than I did in Texas!

yes dont forget that one reason prices have gone up here must surely be the low dollar. The dollar is so low now why would anyone want to charge the same price if the resulting cash buys so much less...
just about 2 dollars to the pound now! Great for those of us with english pounds, everything is is half price!
