Grndnl, There should`nt be a problem with getting a custom crank or a set of rods made. What kind of CFM are the buick heads flowing on the intake and exhust. ( a set of heads fully ported )
All things being equal, an iron block will make more horsepower than an aluminum block. This has been verified time and time again. a 30 t0 40 horsepower difference is not unheard of. Jim Burek P.A.E. ENTERPRISES
Am I kicking a dead horse? I'm still very interested in an Aluminum Big Block, This thread has been dead for almost a year, so I thought I would give it a "bump" to find out where the project is, or if there even is a project to do this. I'm not made of money, but I definitely feel there are some things worth spending money on and an Aluminum 455 block would be one of them Anyone else out there still feel the same? Anyone from TA have anything to say about it?
Just a quick note, but this threads been dead for almost 2 years! It will be interesting to see what develops concerning an alumnium block.
it takes time to produce a new block. Its going on two years that the Olds guys are waiting for a new iron BB.
