Well done. The fastest grocery getter in town, I'd wager. I love the view staring out over the GS hood.

So, I ran into a little brake issue last weekend - basically, I had no brakes 20 miles from home. That was a fun ride.

Long story short, I brought it to my gearhead friend's garage last night and today, he replaced the master cylinder. I guess he had some time on his hands after the test drive because he tackled the non opening secondaries of the 650 spread bore Holley that's been on the car who knows how long.

Apparently, some mice had taken up residency in the secondaries - probably as a result of the car sitting for as long as it has. It should be noted that they never made it past the Holley.

Anyway, talk about night and day! Granted it's a stock SF code 455 and would obviously benefit from more carb (a Mark Northcutt level 2 Q-Jet is on standby) but once those secondaries open, it's like an entirely different car!

    Good thing it stops now!

The ultimate in Buick muscle, my absolute favorite it is the kind of car that makes the wheels look good. Kind of like a beautiful shapely lady in a gunny sack she's still beautiful. Congratulations.

Next up on the docket. A vintage B4B and a level 2 Mark Northcutt Q-Jet. This should be fun.

Finally had a chance to rectify the leaky passenger's side header gasket and after the aggravating time I had with the rear bolt, I'm that much more glad I used the Remflex gasket. That was not an enjoyable morning.

Also changed the oil which I'm sure hasn't been done in quite some time. Slowly but surely, my "to do" list is diminishing.

Took the car to my first cruise night. It's about 3 minutes from my parents, so I picked Dad up on the way.

Toward the end and while I was packing the folding chairs in the trunk, a couple Mopar guys were checking out the car:

"Is that the original window sticker? I know there's a guy that does them for Mopars. It's really something you should have if you're trying to sell the car."

Me: (in my head - oh God, here we go) "No, that's a repro of the exact original sticker. I sent the verification documents to a guy who does them for all the Buick guys on V8Buick and other places."

    "What's a Stage 1?"

Me: (again, in my head and after a 5 second pause to look at the guy and see if he was, in fact, breathing) "The Stage 1 was Buick's top of the line performance model from 1969 to 1974 and also the fastest production car of 1970 - which was the pinnacle year of performance for all musclecars."

    "How many horsepower?"

Me: "Dad? You ready to go?"

They did not know what a Stage 1 was and they were car guys? I at least know the name of each car brands performance model or option. You would think at least Mopar guys would know of a Stage 1.

So a mopar guy makes "original" stickers so cars can be sold... Don't want to touch that one..

Your car looks great......by the way....

Thanks Mike! The sticker is a great conversation piece that I plan on leaving on there. Plus, I think it looks cool.

Yeah, this guy knew everything. I left there feeling a lot smarter than when I'd arrived. Also, his car was worth more than mine, too. So there's that....

Congrats Brett , how to come back big !!! Plenty of my friends have sold their cars and have never got another. There was a time years ago when there were Buick GS Cars all over MA and I knew where they all were. From show cars , race cars , drivers and parts cars. The thrill of the hunt was just awesome !!! After reading this thread for the first time tonight , I am officially taking my last Buick GS off the market and will get back to cruising this summer !!! We are a dying breed us Buick Guys

Should have walked over to their car and went straight to the back bumper, and said the following " I always wondered what the rear of a Slopar looked like,... I've never seen one" then for added insult you can follow up with " that Hemi was a BAD LOOKING MOFO, too bad they all ran like they were pulling a trailer full of BS tho. Then smile and walk away,..And yes I have done this many times gotta do it with a straight face and a very mild but sincere tone. Their reaction is priceless. And btw the 327 Chevy is the fastest engine ever made just ask anyone who has owned one....

Started the pseudo "Day 2" transformation today and can guarantee I'll be sore as hell tomorrow. A $1200 fan shroud and numerous other expensive parts don't allow for too much leverage when it comes to trying to undo bolts that have probably been on since 1970. God!

    Stay tuned....

I will attest to that car, other than NOS, having the nicest '70 Fan Shroud you can imagine.

Lord Vader has a new look. I also installed the sway bar - what a difference!

Man I LOVE those poverty caps, especially on a black car,
It looks great!! Was that the front sway bar or rear? They do make a big difference, and make it more enjoyable, if that's possible!!

It's taken on a whole different look, right? I love it!

The rear sway bar was missing and now it rides like a Buick should. Much better! The F41 package is now returned to where it was when it left Flint.
