It looks like it's a 430 carb sitting on top of a nailhead intake. I'm gonna take a look at the 4-jet linkages and compare them to what's shown there. I'm guessing the rochester flows more than the carter???? If not, I'll probably go with the carter tom has on a '66 wildcat- but maybe scoop up this auction anyway as it's looking like a deal and it's reasonably local!
ken the linkage for the throttle and the trans switch look just like the factory set up on my GS . I don't think there would be any problems that would keep you from getting this to work for you. my inlet is on the side like this one. When i got my car the carb was in a box in pieces . I sent it to a guy in Vt. and he went through it for me . I finally got it out for a good romp the other day and was absouletly tickled with the performance . The only problem I had was the plate that seals the heat riser in the intake , I had to fab one up but i would think that this would already have one . You should buy it if for no other reason than it is a one year only piece . I was going to try to snipe it just for that reason but i have a graduation today so I thought i should throw it out for your perusal as some one should make use of this .
Hey guys I threw a small bid at it but with the looks of the counter on the bid page I'm sure it will double my bid. I won't be on line for the end so happy bidding. Hopefully one of "us" gets it.
Who says old paint can't be made to shine??? This is the results of a full day compounding and buffing the 'Cat. It isn't perfect, but compared to the chalky looking paint with the rusted roof and trunk, I'm pleased!
It was an overcast day (as they all seem to be lately), so more sun would probably enhance the shine...
Looks great, Ken. A big difference from Yardley's,eh? That COLT logo on the back was from a Buick dealership located in Haddonfield,NJ, I believe, for many years.
Sure is a big difference, Julian! Speaking of Yardleys, some of those seed pods everyone was cleaning out of their cars at the end of the day apparently got into my trunk. Well, the trunk leaks and with all this rain was very wet. You can guess the rest- I had trees sprouted in my trunk! ou: Wish that Colt badge was put on with double sided tape like the new cars have. The trunk was drilled to mount that sucker! Bummer.
Ken, you do me proud. I'm VERY impressed with your work and the end result. It looks absolutely fabulous. If we thought you got a bargain on day 1, we're laughing our butts off now. You stole that thing for the $2600 or so you have in to it. I can't wait to see it over July 4th weekend! out
Old thread, but I thought you guys might be interested to see the current state of my old Wildcat. Looking sharp! Buckets/console, air, 425, etc added plus new paint. Man I miss that car more than ever! It's come a long way since Yardley put air in those flat tires and had a mouse run across hit foot when he first tried to start it!
Wow Ken just think of the burn-out:3gears: you could do with a 425 2x4's.Buckets and consol must cost the same as a 2x4's air cleaner.Nice car love those 66 cats. <a href="http://s38.beta.photobucket.com/user/buickgrandsport/media/100_1670.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e132/buickgrandsport/100_1670.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 100_1670.jpg"/></a>
Same pics Bill sent to me Ken. That's why I called & asked for an e-mail address. Looks like I don't need to figure out how to forward the pics now. Tom T.
Very old thread, but maybe the newbs will be interested in it. It was so much fun to do. Ken has since swapped to dual quads and sold this car. The owner was so happy to get it.
