Trailer You'll have fun, you're not that far from the tracks that if you happen to be a little off on one of those power shifts, someone can help get you home pretty easily. :TU:[/QUOTE] Tom, I'd be happy to haul it home if you break it. Unless of course you beat me before you broke it, then i'd have to think about it! pegleg
Frank, I appreciate the offer, but of course being a Chevy guy I'm going to tell you that Chevy's don't break! (Boy, hope I don't end up eating those words!). Yeah, I know, Being a Ford guy you're going to tell me that you need to make some power in order to break anything, and that I'm safe with a Chevy - eh? :beer :3gears:
trailer Tom, When one is running in the 14's, as I am. And, a little blond lady in a Corvette (Chevy) is running 11.50's, the one running 14's has not much to say about Horsepower! When my 57 run's 13's, if ever, I'll get a little louder. At Stanton, there was a silver 68 Chevelle, small block, not sure who owned it, that was really truckin'. The black 283 '57 'Vette has gone 13.40's. Dave h has gone in the 13's with his 350 Olds. Ted Harbitt goes 13.0's and high 12's with a Studebaker. I'm tempted to remain quiet on the subject of horsepower. Frank
Frank, I'll be keeping my mouth shut about horsepower as well. 14's will be a dream for me. I'll be tickled to get into the 15's! But I'm going to have fun trying! I'm afraid my Chevelle is all image and very little substance - kinda the opposite of a certain pair of Mercs I've been reading about. As for Paul's Corvette - that's his "slow" car. I hope he doesn't mind me saying this, but I worked with him 25 years ago, and it seemed like he couldn't find a "use" for the Corvette back then - I think he's found it now! :TU:
well, from what i understand from a late model mustang buddy is that NMRA went there when Martin and stanton switched sanctioning bodies. he said nmra rules is not as stringent, for lack of a better term, than NHRA and thats why that swap. I do miss the weekend they (stanton) used to have in june, i think it was, where alot of big names would come and run. as long as its packed on wed nights and weekends, which it is usually pretty full, it will be around for a long while. hell, just look how long ubly and lapeer have been around! Mike
The track isn't broke, just the crapper's I didn't have a problem racing down the track, the problem was trying to find a place to get rid of the Hotel Continental breakfast :ball: Caused me to cut two nearly perfect light's during elimination's o No:  B.T.W. The Hot Rod article was well written, and the F.A.S.T. organizer's did a great job with the event.
Hello Pegleg, Just to set the record straight it's: Jensen/BODEN who are responsible for Stanton and not Jensen/Rising. ou: I beleive Brad Rising put on a similar event a few years back in Ohio called "The Factory Stock Drag Race." Just wanted to see credit go where it is deserved. Rich
   FJR340: Send Miller that video of the jet truck from Martin. It'll remind him of this!     I love the visual!!!!!! Tom: You'll understand and love it when you see it! I'll send it to you, requires Quick time to view it. Hope you don't have a dial-up.
Found the Hot Rod issue at Kroger's yesterday. 146 pages at $4.99. Wow. Figuring the next time Hotrod will write anything on F.A.S.T. or (gasp) Pure Stock, I'm still saving money by not subscribing any more. Started my first subscription in 1958. I like the article. Don't feel they slighted anyone too bad. Just enhanced what sells their magazine. Anybody got an extra copy of the Aug, '06 issue with the article on the Chicken Hawk? Like to borrow and read that.
