Yeah, there was a '65 convertible (15,000!!) and a '60 Mk V 4dr hardtop that was loaded and showing 40K miles from Pa. Rotted out underneath, which is not good for the biggest unibody car ever made.
Since those first pics, they have gotten a '68 Toronado, '95 SC Riv, '64 Fury 4dr, '66 LeSabre 4dr sedan in the yard.
Amphicar went for $2,500 -- evidently the guy who bought it wanted the transmission and said it alone was worth $4,500. Wish I'd known. I'd totally dig having one of those, but that one seemed too far gone for anything other than parting out. -- Steve
Chicken!! All you woulda needed was a REALLY big bilge pump!!!--Anything ever come of that black hurst olds??? Robert
I'm sure that it is still there. The owner of the place wanted $3500. for it and it is a big block car 455. "T" code in the VIN. The yard is near Waycross,Ga on the main rd from the Florida line.
Yeah, I just picked up a '69 Ford Cobra "R" code fastback out of a junkyard Friday. 428 Cobra-Jet Ram Air 4spd . It's the Fairlane body style. It's RUFF!!
Just returned from PA. and visited a yard just south of Wilkes-Barre. Lots of Buicks and others. Go to exit 159 on I-81 . Stairville Rd. The yard is called Engler's. There are a couple thousand cars there. Harry's U Pull It didn't have much but I found a yard nearby that has about 1500 oldies. It was very cold and windy so I didn't tour the whole place. I'll make a report this spring, but here are some pics of Engler's.
OK V-8 Buick people: Living in California I'm not use to the carnage the weather plays on these cars. The cars where the paint is totally burned off and has heavy surface rust must have been attacked by super-duper-duty acid rain. When I lived in New Jersey (left in 1974) I had a 60 Electra coupe, white with a brown interior. I wonder if this is the same car I owned back then? What are the chances? Mitch
