Hope there is a good turn out.I would love to see this become an annual race.Hope to have mine ready for next season.New motor going to together now so the #'s matching one can take a break.
Weather still looks good, so I am eastbound and down!! Got 4 races in the next 6 weeks, Munci, Brainerd,Stanton, and Kansas City. Hope the old girl holds up! See you at the track guys, Jim
http://s186.photobucket.com/albums/x37/cjfordman I hope this link shows up for a lot of pics from the Muncie race. Thanks to all that came out.I had a personal best ET with my Mustang with a 1.83 60 ft time.See you guys at Stanton Thanks ,Steve :3gears:
Thanks Steve for hosting the race at Muncie Dragway, I had a blast. :TU: Good warmup for Stanton. My best of three races had a Margin of Victory of .0045, .0023, and .0011 :eek2: Too bad I was on the losing end of the first and third ones. I had to race against the veteran Ted H. in his scootin' '63 Studebaker. Here are some photos in the pits.
Great meeting some new guys there. Check out Ted's cool 61 Studebaker hauler.:TU: Forgot to tell you guys, I don't own a truck or trailer, I drove the car 52 miles each way to the track on Friday and Saturday. Overall put 258 miles on the car.
ou: Hi, Dave; Thanks for clarifying the trailering, contrary to what I stated in our Stude Forum report. I will do penance by offering a ride in my '71 Barracuda convertible next time you are on the west side of the Indianapolis area, OK? (We can compare painter definitions of Vitamin C.) Thanks for bringing your car; it's one I'd like to have in my garage, too...'love the color, the 4-speed, and the coupe configuration. :beer BP
Bob, just wanted to let everyone know that the car is roadworthy. The coupe has always been my favorite, plain little pop out side windows. That would be great to get a ride in the Barracuda or you'll have to bring it to our next Indy Mopar Club all Mopar car show out in Danville next month. Here is the link. http://www.indymoparclub.com/upcomingimcevents.html
Just like to thank Steve Vanderwall for his hard work organizing the Muncie meet, the racing was as close as any I have seen at a Pure stock event. The atmosphere was very relaxed and casual, hope we get to do it again with more competitors next time. The Muncie track is great to drive, the extra runoff room makes Stanton seem cramped. Going through the traps at over 100, you can just let off and coast down to 40-50 and gently brake. Plus the bridge on the return road is a gas! Many, many races decide by a few thousanths. See you all in Stanton!!
Steve, Thanks, had fun. Get the Fairlane done and help Lane in Fast. Need more Fords. By the way Bowtie folks, where were you? I've never been to a race where there were more Studebakers than Chevies.
There are enough cars in a 50 mile radius of Muncie to make this event a good one you just have to figure out how to get them there.I had a great time even with just 12 cars.I'll be there next year with my bee (no show this year due to noise in #'s matching engine, new engine going together as we speak)
Had perfect weather, just rained all the way home. 18th dragstrip Ive raced at, long drive, but better than watching tv. Thanks Steve, for putting it on!!! Brainerd comeing up next! Good thing I have a Ram tough Mopar so I dont have to work on it every weekend!! Jim
I can not find the list with times maybee some of the partisipants can chime in with their times.Jim 12secbee had a quick time of 12.32 . I ran a personal best 12.91 with a 1.83 60 ft time with a baddly slipping trans .Stan Palmas car ran a 12.96.I don't remember well what everybody else ran and don't want to mess up everyones times.See you in Stanton :3gears:
