AMK Products has the nicest bolts. Head markings often match your originals, as I suspect much of their stock comes from the original suppliers. They do offer Chevelle kits, which should be close. http://www.amkproducts.com/ Ground-Up has a nice selection of original style hardware. Did you pick up a catalog at E-town? www.ss396.com Did you find body bushings? Most kits are generic. If you want mounts that match the originals, you have to match them up and buy them separately from CARS. http://www.oldcarstuff.com/ If you will part with your original bolts, I'd like to get them from you for my '65.:Brow: You work fast!! Keep it up!:TU:
oh yea. these W&E fasteners have the right markings as well as being black phosphate. I believe they come 50/box.
Looking good Joe ....:TU: tagging bagging shell on rotisserie frame blasted ....wow you guys in Jersey work fast we'll be watching this thread ....
Can't wait to see those pics! Also, if you don't mind, describe your cleaning method and supplies used. My next step is to check my frame is stratight then prep it for paint. Soda blasting sounds cool for the body. That's my plan too.
Thanks for the kind words. I will be back to post some pics. I have to go power wash the inside of the frame cause it's full of nice west coast sand. On the frame I used about 5 of the dewalt 5/8's twisted wire wheels (14.95 each) for the grinder and old fashioned sand paper. After I power wash I will use soapy hot water with a good tough scrub brush to clean all the welded edges and try to get all the corners. Be back later!! Ain't gonne get done with me on this stupid computer!!!!:3gears:
Joey!- Looking great there brother!!!!. I bought the "sand blasting" wand from Northern tool that you can use with your pressure washer. I saw my boy Lou on "Muscle Car" do a frame with it and it worked well. The water from the pressure washer allows you to sand blast without worrying about Silica. Just hose the sand into the steet when done. I am bringing the 66 home Saturday. i plan on doing the same set up as you. Keep us posted!.:TU:
Hi Tony. I missed you on saturday at Cecil. I thought you would have been there. I'll see you at e-town soon though. You need to show me what your talking about cause i'll be needing to do the shell when i'm done with the frame. I was going to hire a soda blasting guy but if I can buy this and do it myself, i'd consider doing it. So today the frame is ready for paint but i'm waiting for the parts to come back from the sand blaster. Here's a few more pics. The last pic is of all the sand that came out of the frame!! I hosed it away 3 different times like you see here.
Since the frame is done you won't need to use the sand blaster. If you got the $$ have the soda blaster guy do the body. If you are looking to save $$ buy this : http://cgi.ebay.com/Eastwood-Soda-B...ryZ43015QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Here is the pressure washer/sand blaster: http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_8520_8520
Hey Joe (and everybody else following this thread), What are you doing about the inside of the frame? Do you plan to shoot some kind of rust converter or sealer into the frame rails? Nice thing about the boxed frame - it's boxed! Bad thing about the boxed frame - it's boxed (when you are restoring it)!
mine was not boxed ..but I ran some rags dipped in eastwood enscapulator through whatever I couldn't reach with some heavy wire (trippled up twisted coat hangers  ) think I pretty much wet it all up
Yea man, the sad truth. Update: Ok so I had to work today so my bud came out to start assembling the tent. Not so straight forward. It had to be built up on 1 side cause my driveway isn't level. So the tent frame is up and he is building the back wall out of wood.(on the inside so you can't see it from the outside) Then a 12 foot temp work bench in the back so I have a work place and can keep my 65 lark clean by not having to go in and out to work. Also a few shelves will be put in. I got my suspension parts back from the sand blaster today and woweee!!!Take a look.
So I got the tent up today and i'm glad the 12 by 20 wasn't available cause this 12 by 26 is big and roomy. Didn't touch the car today. How about the nice temporary work bench?? Here's the tent. What do you think?
I pressure washed it the best I could. I'll have to talk to my paint guy. He's a buddy of mine. Ask him what we could do.
Joe, That looks like one of those KEG PARTY TENTS :Brow: :Brow: :Brow: The tent looks great :TU: Looks like you are moving at a good pace. Maybe I could take a ride over one day and check out the progress in person. Keep up the good work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Paddock has a Chevelle kit. I bet it would cover most of your needs. https://www.paddockparts.com/Paddoc...alse&mscssid=62EB484282894A12834A9E13E08B78C8
Please be sure to lag it to the ground real tight. I've seen so many of these blow over or away. The progress your making really pi**es me off
