Actually it was 5 hundredths, not 5 tenths. This car went 7.49 on it's first trip to the track after the motor swap. I have not messed with the lock up yet. I haven't thought about mileage much. But, the fun per gallon is excellent.
I did not look very good at the slips before I posted obviously... Sounds like you are enjoying the swap! :3gears: No regrets eh?:Brow:
The only things that annoy me about the swap are the noisy LS valvetrain and not being able to run a mechanical fuel pump.:af: The performance to cost ratio speaks for itself.:beer
Exellent times and progress. I sure would like to be in the 11 second club. I just can't get down from 12.2. Maybe this winter I hope.
Last night it was low 50s at the track. My car liked the cool weather. 7.22 @ 95.3 into a 20MPH headwind.
I don't think it will go much faster. I would have to go bigger on the cam and converter. I really like the combination of power and drivability it has. There is enough cam for a little thump in the idle, yet I could jump in and drive it across the country. I have considered a little nitrous, but I don't want to pop a piston or kill the transmission -etc. It is 3725 lbs. with me in it. I couldn't ask for much more from 364 naturally aspirated cubic inches. I do need to go down to the quarter mile and collect my 11.30s timeslip though.
Impressive. I think my last BBB is being built now; if I didn't already have the parts it would have been my last one the first time it was built. :error: LSx will be my next one if there is a next one. With carburetion a 125 shot won't hurt it, I promise! :Brow:
Good fopr you! I like how you set up a plan and stuck to it... Nothing better than a nice driving street car! Did you ever get the lockup converter working? Also wondering about the highway MPG?
Steven, I really like your setup...that new cam has some really nice specs. Only suggestion I can think of for a future upgrade that won't mess with your drivability would be to go with the 4" stroke crank for the 408" combo. BTW...that old cam looks like it would be good in a 5.3 - is it still available?
The thought has crossed my mind for sure, but I am leaning toward no right now. The car is about at the limits of a lot of components. I still have stock axles, a mildly built 200-4r and no safety equipment for 10 seconds. If I go the next level, I have to spend a bunch of money. Thanx Sean. I am really enjoying the car. I have never hooked up the lock up or measured the mileage. On a good day.:bglasses: I sold the cam. I will tell you though. It seems like about any cam with a 220s duration at .050" is magic in these motors and you can drive them across the country if you keep the lift below .600".
Well, temptation has gotten the best of me again. I "accidentally" found a new Cheater kit on Craigslist that was just too good of a deal to pass up: brand new Cheater system led purge kit fuel pressure cut of switch bottle pressure gauge dedicated Holley regulator All brand new for 475 cash. 10 second or bust! an axle...... a trans........ a piston.......... a head gasket......
Sounds great! If those LS engines can handle 20 PSI of turbocharger boost they can handle a shot of that!
