Pop a Top Again....Jim Ed Brown Another favorite was "Rednecks, white socks and Blue Ribbon Beer" Johnny Russell. I still remember the album cover---it was so cheap they had blanked out the names on the beer can labels of the beers the guys are holding in the album cover shot. Damn--I just Yahoo searched that one and came up with lots of references...must have been more popular than I thought.
I passed on the motor. It's a 73 and I was looking for a 72. So it's available to anyone else. Tak to Brian for connections. Still a very good buy, just not what I was after. :bglasses:
Yea, he had sold the '72 engine yet told me he still had the 455 for sale. Not telling me it was a '73 and not thinking anyone would care. o No:
Still a good buy. Short block itself is identical (except for cam profile), heads can be changed if someone needs more performance. Few people doing anything with 73 or newer Olds, lots more demand for 68-72 parts. The 72 engine would hve been a perfect numbers match (not VIN) for that tan colored F85 to build as a replica. You could get a 455 in those cars without it being a 442 or W30. Also correct for all 72 455 applications including 72 Hurst Olds. There's actually a 455 on ebay right now for $4500....What a joke. Says it was owned by a GM executive and was in some exotic car at one time. BFD. It is what it is. :Smarty: Everybody thought it was a typo ($450 would make more sense) until you see he's also got a Ford 351, I think, for $3000. Very strange.
71 Cutlass S The 2 door post was not offered with the 442 in 71. It was offered in 70 and 72. So if you want to drop in a 455,you will have to do the trim so it looks like a 72. I am not up on the Pure Stock rules, just offering a heads up on what to look out for on a 71.
