    You don't.

I could be making 700hp+ using the technology they use on those little 4 banger economy motors ( ) if I applied it to a classic v8. :TU:

4 Bangers weren't built to go fast. They were built for economy. That's what I will forever see them as no matter how fast one may go with thousands and thousands of dollars dropped into them.

There are many of 4cyl engines built specifically for performance. Going in a straight line is not the only measure of performance. It doesn't matter what you think of them because when it comes down to it... you run what ya brung! A loss is a loss no matter what is powering the competition.

I don't know about that.... I could name a few that were good for nuttin'. Yugo's, pontiac pheonix(and rother branded versions), I'm sure the're some other oddballs out there too.

Not trying to get into the middle of a Pi$$ing match... just saying :Brow:

Yugo - good gas mileage, easy to park, inexpensive to purchase, excellent joke material!

4 bangers are ok, if you like econo boxes. I never really thought and still don't think a 4 banger is really that great on performance, no matter how fast one may go. Better known as econo boxes than performance machines. Im glad some people like them anyways. In order to get the power out of a 4 banger as any V8 you would have to drop some money into the 4 cylinder to get it to the V8's standard HP, and then to make the 4 banger have a lot more, you would have to drop loads more money into it, and some of these 4 banger cars are more expensive to buy from the dealer to get an old V8 powered car. In my opinion, since gas is so high, a 4 cylinder is a good engine for use at harsh times such as now. Sure they can turn good, but it isn't all about turning corners either, no torque, no HP, no good- Not trying to make an argument out of this as it seems, but rather to get my side for you to see. Just my opinion, yours is obviously going to be different. :Smarty: :TU:

But the original 4 bangers were never built for performance. They started building v8's because they wanted their cars to go faster, have more power, etc.

Who cares what they were originally built for? Do you think the wheel was originally built for Buicks to drag race on? You don't need a V8 to go fast... maybe you would understand a little more easily if I mentioned that GNs don't have V8s?

They don't have 4 poppers do they? Even your beloved supra has 6 cylinders.

... which automatically must be a bad thing because everyone knows that 8 is always better than 6!

We took a 2.2 from a prelude and put it into a 95 civic dx hatchback and got a 14.97 out of it on the 1/4. Engine was completely stock. Not bad for a 4cyl..

You should be able to bring that number down some more. A hatch with a stock H22 (I assume you used the VTEC H22) should be in the low 14 second range.
Just out of curiosity, why didn't you use a B series motor that drops right in and has a million times the aftermarket support of the H series?

It was a friends car. He paid for it, I just helped out. In my opinion, I would have a done a frankenstien B20 block, or just a regular B18 from an integra. That prelude motor was heavier and gave a bit more oversteer to the car when turning...

That is what I figured. The B20 with a B16 head and boost in a hatch = :3gears:

I am just assuming that this is your thought process from your previous posts on the subject of low displacement engines.
