Hmmmmmm..somethings missing Great pictures, of cool cars, but the post needs just a "little something" . :Smarty: That's it! A massive burnout!:Brow: :Brow:
Re: Olds question Price depends upon condition and originality of the parts, but start with a set of F heads at $1000 on up, an intake worth $500 on up, carb at $250 on up, etc. etc. Rebuildable numbers match around $2500-$3000, and up to $6k or more if fresh and ready to go. Worth much more than that if someone has the car the engine came from and has the VIN match.
Ray your W-30 Looks killer. I bought mine in 1985 from the orig owner. It even had orig plug wires on it still when I got it. Mine will never go anywhere. I have been offered pretty good cash for it before. I am one of those people that just won't sell. Mine has a Dual Gate automatic. I would also love a 4 speed car. Can you send me your pics full size to my email? I would love that as a background. Are those 15" rims on there? Buick wheels? I love the color. If are ever in Hawaii there is a guy that works at the Honolulu airport that has a Rally Red ram air car with a black top. He also told me that he will never sell. He bought it new. By the way great to see all Olds crew post their pics they are all looking good. Keep them coming.
Thanks Pat. My ex W30 also had original paint (Rally Red) when i first got it, but really needed a repaint. The rims were wheel vintiques 15" Olds super stock1 rims without the trim rings. Give me a direct email and ill send you the pics full size. Or email me at Raymo442@aol.com
Yeah Pat---those wheels he shows on the car are like a 71 version of the SSI...called the PO5 option...I think they were a "one year only" piece....they came from the factory with the chrome rim so no trim rings were used. Now--with all the repro wheel guys out there you can get 'em made pretty much however you want- 14" or 15" with your choice of rim widths. Same steel 5 spoke centers used on these--they just use a rim with a longer "step" in it...just like Olds did when they changed the SSII rims from 14" to 15" in 1974 or so (and retained the bolt on center cap) Patton
SS1 wheels Patton: We were really pissed when Olds cancelled the SS1 (PO5) wheel option in the Spring of 1968 and brought out the SSII. My Ramrod and my roommates' 68 442 conv were on order at the time and both came through with the SSII painted wheels. Both had drum brakes, so that wasn't an issue. Those all chrome 14 x 7 SS1's were used after the big strike at the beginning of the 1971 model year until they could get back to the trim ring type like they used in 70 and went back to in late 1971 MY and 1972. Chevy used up a lot of those painted wheels and took the supplier a while to catch up. After market wheels by Wheels Vintique are nice (sold by Coker, others), but are soft and lug holes wear rapidly if you take them on and off.
And we have a 4 speed Conv Tri power with A/C and power windows, steering , brakes and trunk release. Yes these are the real SS!'s with satin chrome on the spokes and acorn lug nuts. John
Well I wondered how long it would take for the big gun to show some of his hole cards. But to appreciate that car you will need to let one of us lighten the pic or better yet take it outside and shoot some more. Buicklawyer tell 'em who found and negotiated the deal for that 66 track pack for you. (The truth I mean).
Jim, Is buicklawyer your Olds buddy you kept telling me about when we were discussing the Hurst Olds? If it is he SHOULD be a "lawyer" because that is a crime for one guy to have all those "killer" cars! Awesome collection:jd: :jd: :TU:
Dave, Thanks so much for the info on that W-30 motor. I have a Buick Sportwagon I think he may swap me for the W-30 motor so if I can pull that deal off I'm defintely going to get it. I may try and locate the car it was in if possible, and use the extra money you were talking about, to buy a professionally built 455 to drop in place of my numbers matching motor. I'm guessing part of the v.i.n. # is on the Olds motors, just like our Buicks? If so maybe I can then go to the Sloan Registry and track down the car. Now wouldn't that be cool. Thanks again for your advice:TU:
